    Alreet folks,

    Here's the problem...

Freenet Freenet no longer works over EirconNet. At least from where I run the server.

It's not the firewall or any other software or hardware problem as it works with Esat.

Is Eircom trying to censor Freenet?

    tribble...

    Pray tell why?

(and yes, i too can see many flaws - but even TFE didn't pull the plug despite the onslaught of scum)

No - freenet is not part of the web.

It doesn't even have to operate over the net (but almost all nodes are)

They appear to be blocking traffice on the ports it uses.

    Wnkrs

What ports would they be? A freenet node can listen to whatever port it wants.

i should have said 'Default Ports' - yes these can be changed but my point was rather that they should not be blocked in the first place.

I switched ISP so I cannot confirm whether changing ports would get around this.

Rather than relying on guess work here, why don't you actually test the validity of your claims.

It is quite simple to test whether or not a 'port' has been filtered. I suggest you take that approach rather than subscribing to the daily ritual ranting against 'the oppressor'.

ego - I merely posed the question in the hope of a more informed response. Why did you not reinforce your point by disproving my suspicions after all

    - I subscribe to nosuch. If I did so I would not have included a solution (switching ISP)...

    shut up you brat:)

It's a wonder he didn't assert that that was being blocked also.

I suppose I'll be accused of something or other by you whinging kids, but this is off-topic and going nowhere so I'm locking it.

For future reference, if you make a statement of 'fact', then the onus of proof is on you. Some airy-fairy statements about censorship when you admit that you didn't even do the basic obvious tests before jumping to conclusions just don't wash.

If you wish to have a rant about eircom/iedr/odtr/acne/whatever then go to IOFFL. If you have a networking problem to sort, then try net/comms. If you think I'm being unreasonable, then take it up on the admin board.
