Just sounding out this idea and see what people think of it.

I have had, and I am sure many others here have had some training in Financial and Budget management. I believe that a forum where various financial issues from home budgeting, pension types, mortgage info to share purchasing and banks and their associated charges, could be openly discussed and the options highlighted would be a boon to any number of people on the boards. With links to MABS and and how to use it including pointers and first hand experience with debt management .

Well I know I could have done with some help or even just a few advisory words straight outta college on how to pay off and keep out of debt when you get your first job.

I most heartily endorse this product and/or service

I know it's something I should pay more attention to - any source of information is good IMO

    What about Business/Economy/Finance ?

It falls within the ambit of the B/E board.

If theres a rake of topics relating soley to personal or business finance in the near future I'd support Gordons suggestion :)

Was thinking about this the other day could B/E be renamed to be more "consumer" friendly - perhaps Business / Personal Finance is that isn't too long?

Seems that the interest isn't there for it spook, Vic's idea seems a good one at the least. Business/Economy doesn't cover the plethora of topics that could fall under personal finance & debt management issues IMHO.

Anyone have any problems with just Business / Finance then?

IMO Economy covers Finance as well as other areas that Finance does not. I say leave it as is.

This wording might still put off people wanting to insert personal finance topics. Generally it doesn't, but it could.

I think when the board was created there was a lot of topics about The Celtic Tiger with no where to go, especially from Politics and humanites.

For that and several other reasons "Economics" seemed the best title for the board.

As Amp said, Finance is ecompassed within Economics but not necess. vice versa.

Its not a major issue, but theres my 2c :)
