Thinking of switching from NTL to Sky

We've been thinking about switching from ntl to sky recently so I've been looking over the packages. The main concern is price.

ATM we pay ntl just below €98 a month for the basic analogue, basic digital, movies, sports and cable modem (€68 if you dont take cable modem into account).

From what I've seen the sky world package is €60/month. We would probably want to keep the basic analogue from ntl for tv in another room (€15/m) so thats €75/m without the cable modem.
If we drop the digital package from ntl the cable modem goes up an extra €5 to €35/m which would bring the grand total for sky+cable modem to €110/m.

I think I've got all that right, so anyway, I need convincing to part with an extra €12 a month (I'm a stingy bastard) ;)

BTW, I dont seem to suffer as much as some ntl users seem to, I get the occaisional half second cut maybe once or twice during a good nights watching and cnn tends to crap out sometimes, but thats about it.

I recently switched from NTL digital to Sky Digital and I can't believe I didn't do it sooner.

    1. It's cheaper(no such luck of having cable internet in my area)
    2. It's a hell of a lot more reliable(we kept the analogue NTL and it's gone down 4 times since we got in sky(2 months ago) and Sky has been perfect all the time)
    3. The picture is better
    4. More channels(including a lot more sport and movies)
    5. Interactive Services(especially stuff like the Active Footy)
    6. Customer Services are a million times better then NThell
    7. You can keep the Dish and Digibox after a year(you can't wtih NThell although they still haven't picked up theirs from me)
    8. Remote is a lot more sturdy and can be replaced at a fraction of the cost of the NThell Digi Remote.
    9. Eventually Sky Plus will be available here.

Need I say more? Switch now before you change you mind!

Did you get your Disney pack?

no, I didn't. Dixons are muppets. I'm raging I didn't know about your company before I went to them. Not that I really want a Disney pack but it's the principle of the thing and the way I was treated by them (the sales guy was nice as pie until I told him I wasn't interested in the extra insurance, then he couldn't care less whether I signed up or not). I've recommended your place to a couple of people since. Dunno if they're gonna go ahead with it or not though.

1 thing I've been meaning to ask actually. Do you recieve the Sky Customer magazine automatically and how often are they delivered?

I have sky digital but my friend has NTL, I think it's rubbish there's only an extra 20 something channels? You have much wider variety of choice with sky in my opinion

You do receive them automatically, however most people miss the first month's issue for some reason.

    It is delivered monthly.

Don't be too worried about getting it as it is utter crap.

Thanks for the referrals, perhaps it might be some consolation to tell you that I sent all the remaining Disney packs to children who had to stay in hospital over Christmas. Please dont tell sky as they might come loking for them back:D
