For about 6 months now i've been getting the message "no satellite signal being received" on RTE, Network 2, TV3, TG4, 2FM and Hallmark. The message is displayed for up to a minute before the channel comes in and does not happen all the time. After it started happening I got an engineer out who changed my digibox and checked the satellite dish but a few days later it started happening again. Anyone any ideas whats the problem?

tv3 Rte,etc use a slighly lower TP power so it shows up noisy tuners, lnbs and bad cabling. If you are still in warranty I would ask for a replacement box, is it a pace/grundig by any chance?

It's been happening to me since RTE came on. I just flick to another station and back again and the picture appears. I don't see it as a major problem (but that's just me!)

It happens on my Pace box too and its really annoying
I know people who have panasonic boxes and it never happens to them!

Happens to me to with my Pace Box.
It started for me after a software upgrade about 5...6 months ago.
The situation has improved slightly since the latest upgrade 3.1.a5, i.e. I get some of the channels some of the time.
Irish Channels, Disney, Hallmark and Eurosport News are affected for me.

Its happened to be a good few times aswell. Hasn't happened much lately but i don't really watch thoughs channels much, just TG4 for the rugby. Has happened sometimes when i really wanted to watch something though its well annoying, and yes, i have a Pace box to!

This is why Panasonics are the box of choice for most people now.

I get this too, on a pace box. It only started happening after it was repaired (at a rip-off cost, sky's customer service for Ireland is overtly F*** off, we dont give a crap).
I find that putting the box into standby then immediately back on always gets the channel back, not much good for setting the planner to change the channel though.

    What did Sky charge?

It cost around e120, not from sky though, I tried ringing them but all I got after 3 attempts was a bogus number for a non-existent company.
It was repaired by a crowd off the nass road, Armstrong I think. They obviously have some connection to sky as they knew my name from the serial no. of the box.

Yes armstrongs are the agents for pace/panasonic for Sky, electroplus are also agents. 120 is not exactly a rip off given the replacement cost of a tuner. Did you bring the digibox to them or did an engineer call to collect/return?

I went to them, no call-outs.
The place in Eniskillen have subsuquently quoted me a figure of around 70-80 euro for a tuner replacement.
Considering it is a design flaw and that I had no choice other than a pace box, I believe paying 120 euros to keep the thing operational for more than 20 months is a complete rip-off.

Given that you went to them this does seem to be expensive, bear in mind the difference in VAT rates also contributes to this.

Yup it feackin happened again. No satelite signal being recieved. i just had to leave it for a bit and pressed the select button loads of times and it came back on. Others it just come on really slowly, like it has to, in a sense, "load" the channel! Does anyone knowwhy this happens with Pace boxs and not Panasonic ones?

I have a Pace box and for 3 months during the Summer it happened to me regularly.
I fixed the problem by attenuating the aerial signal down to around 60% of max.
Previously the signal strength and quality were up in the 80's.
It hasn't happened once since September.

    How did you do this?

My signal strength & quality are both around 50-60% but I routinely get this problem on my Pace box.
