Bravo to the GAA and 'COME ON THE DUBS"

Large crowd expected for NFL tie

Dublin county board is hoping that the attractiveness of the Croke Park venue, as well as cut-price admission, will lure a large crowd to HQ for the Allianz NFL tie with All-Ireland champions Armagh.

Dubs boss Tommy Lyons has welcomed the decision to switch the game from the 10,000 capacity Parnell Park, and the hope is that a crowd of over 40,000 will attend. Special family tickets, admitting two adults and two children, will be available at euro20, while admission to Hill 16 will be euro10, with euro12 securing admission to the stands. Children will be admitted free.

"We're especially interested in the kids of Dublin," said county chairman John Bailey, mindful of the need to capture the hearts of the capital youth. "It's a great opportunity for children and young club players to get into Croke Park."

Dublin are scheduled to play Armagh on February 2nd.

The GAA (Grab All Association) are trying to make money, there's a surprise!!!
Anyone else think this is an elaborate ploy by the GAA to get Dublin even more games in Croke park, as they can't win anywhere else!!

    Kerry v Dublin 2001
    Tyrone vDublin (minor) 2001

Yes, I agree!!! When you take dublin out of dublin they lose their intimidation factor, therefore are pathetic!
The GAA are just using Croke Park to get more money to pay for all the turkey and mince pies they ate over christmas!!

Looks like the new head of the GAA will be a major factor in deciding whether or not they let soccer be played at Croker. Seems to be a bit of business sense involved and not just the auld "keep that huns game off our pitches" attitude.

    Roll on Euro 2012....

as they can't win anywhere else!!

If I recall correctly the Kerry match in 2001 was brought to a replay and Kerry went on to become All Ireland Champions, and finalists the next year. In fairness to the Dubs, Kerry were a much better team then Dublin under Tommy Carr so bringing it to a replay was pretty good. Also Dublin played a match down in Carlow last year against Wexford which they won.

yeah only by two points. if they were serious contenders they would have wiped the floor with wexford who at the time were considered footballing minnows.

best supporters last year were armagh. a team on the hunt for only their 1st sam maguire. even carlow and tipp have more sams then they do (tipp have 4, dunno about carlow)

every match from clones to navan was a sea of orange

Waylander, all these slack jawed yokles
seem to forget several key points.

WE are the only county that could attract 40,000 people to a leaugh match ( with the help of armagh who have fantastic support)

part from maybe 2 other grounds no where else in Ireland could contain us. We love to travle, just those little bogwarter towns cant handle it.

Croke park is one of the best grounds in europe, it should be used as ofter as possible

WE are in DUBLIN the whole country revolves around US.

Give it a rest!!! who the f*uck would envy the dubs in all fairness. drugs, skangers and prostitution everywhere. yee only go to the matches in yeer locality whereas tipp fans follow their team with great pride from Cork to Portlaoise and to yeer gaff this yeer alone. Semple is the finest surface in the country and no many how much sod yee put down in croker yeel never have the ideal element to match us, + yeer b;oll*x at hurling, a real mans game. plus that na fianna have to poach players from other counties as well as kilmacud and ballymun and the likes. So dont be bluffing me with yeer "we have more resources then you" crap
obviously those men whom founded the gaa back in 1884 in thurles didnt think much of yee. why they could have easily founded it in the Capital but they didnt.

Alany I can see why you are building up this reputation of being a tactful diplomat. Not that I disagree with any of your points. Tipp Gunner I think the fact that we gat to the semis and were a tad unfortunate to lose shows that we were in fact contneders in last years championship. Unlike this year when we will be Champions.

and the best of luck to yee in doing so....

in fairness to the dubs my father talks with great fondness of one of the greatest sides ever which kevin heffernan managed came down to my local village back in 1980 to commemorate sean hogan and the victims of bloody sunday with a special football match. they slept in cars, and what not. mingled with the locals and made the occasion very special indeed.

yeer not all that bad or at least the ones who dont get a bit excited about nothing.

    Tipp as few points

Dublin has slappers and skangers and drugies Thsi is true but so does the rest of the country..in tipp they are called locals, in galway they are called students, in cork they are called 'boy' and in meath they are all called "meath bastands" and they are all related to eachother.

Secondly..Us dublin supporters would follow our county anywhere the two games in you lovley little town Thurlas against Kerry should have proved that. or mayber you saw carlow last year ?
We would go anywhere !!! EVEN Meath !!!

Third... which county have recorded the biggest ever loss in a GAA championship game (baring london or new york)

i agree with whoever said lets jus leave it on the pitch! At the minute i dont mind if tyrone dont suceed in their all ireland campaign but i do mind if 15 dublin players dont have their legs broke by the time their all ireland campaign is over, which shouldnt give us to much time!

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,598 ✭✭✭Yavvy

thats the only way the dubs wont win the sam, and even then I fancy our chances to do better ant Tyrone. Muahahahaha

i taught we lived in the arse end of no-where where we have no access to all the nessecities let alone drugs??????
keep your opinions to yourself.. who wants to hear a narrow minded tw@t anyway.
we are slack-jawed locals one minute and a bunch of skangers and druggies the next??????

are you capable of actually expressing an opinion with some distinction of truth?????

look if ye think yeer chances of winning an all-ireland are very good no bother. im just sickened by the lack of repect and the abundance of disreguard you show for people from other counties.

Grow a sense of humour Tipp will you. You are the only one taking offence here, because everyone else has the cop on to realise that Alany is having a laugh, your reaction is making it at your expense. As regards Dublin, we were a good deadball specialist away from winning Sam last year. Hopefully that has been rectified in the interim. Ray is a great player but not too hot on the frees, and I do not say that because of his last kick against Armagh, I say because of his free kicking all championship last season.

Tipp.. Im so sorry...Really I am. (sarcastic)

Im sorry you wouldnt know a joke if it jumped up and slapped you in the face (Slapstick)

Im so sorry I think I will See if I can get your address and send you a joke book and a copy of the life of brian (more sarcasticness) AND one of those pop out snakes(more Slapstick)

and finally I think everyone would get a good laugh if you would crawl up your own ass and pull out what ever is making you such an anal git (black humor)

Uh huh huh huh god your so funny i must have fu*king forgot to laugh.

the funniest joke you were telling is the fact you were almost convincing yourself Dublin were a cert to bring sam back to the hill in 2003.

    Dammit!!
Bloody Armagh, fed up of Armagh, i hate Armagh!!!!
Useless big culchies with big stupid fat heads!!!! (Francie Bellew)
They also have lizard men with no necks playing for them!! (Oisin Mc Conville)
Tyrone's support is as good if not better than Armaghs, look at Galway v Tyrone, national league match, Tyrone had more support than Galway!!!!

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,598 ✭✭✭Yavvy

    there there Conor...its ok...

If tyrone are as good as you say ..then this years Uster c'ship will
show Armagh up for the pretenders we all know they are

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 489 ✭✭ironbrew

excactly, well show Armagh up! theyve got a very easy route 2 the final, which shud help us wen we get there! YES WEN WE GET THERE COZ WE WILL! hehehehe

*Note all statements above may or may not be true!

Lads any county that has a club like Crossmaglen is going to have a quality county team. I personally thought Armagh were a very good side last season, and if it wasn't going to be the Dubs then I was happy enough to see Armagh get it.

Didnt cross draw 3 matches this year when they had convicing leads by like 7 points ???
didnt they loose to a tyrone club side ? ??

To be honest if anyone was going to win the sam besides the dubs last year my choice was armagh too. but those orange orchard eejits that are really muppets had their day in the sun.

Its time the dubs did it. I think we only have 2 All Irelands left with Hill 16 still standing as we know and love it.
