just slapped on ye olde "17 seconds" by the cure ...ahead of its time man....people might give out to me for sayin' this but i think they did became too la la theatrica in their latter days....but still the earlier stuff i loved.....17 seconds, faith, pornography, all highly innovative albums and very influential on a lot of bands from the pumpkins to placebo............

anyone else know where i'm comin' from......?

Most of my favourite bands are metal, but I really love the Cure too, I think they have a similar sort of atmosphere somehow. I think their best album is Disintegration though, by far. Really depressing stuff ;) I don't really see how they influenced the Pumpkins or Placebo lol. The Smiths are cool too IMO, I think there was some sort of conflict between Smiths and Cure fans at the time though lol.

the cure are all over the pumpkins which adore demonstated - how much billy loved them.......same with placebo big influence ......but yeah disintegration was a great album......

The Blur/Oasis of their time :)

Love them both though, actually spent last night drunkenly jumping around the basement in Thomas Reads with some mates to Cure and Smiths tracks. It's a phase I refuse to grow out of :)

i love the cure. they're a band i remember from my childhood, and a lot of their songs bring back happy memories, but i got the singles album, and i didnt really like it as much as i thought i would, i felt there was a few too many crap songs on it too. i ahve a few other albums though-i want to get disintegration-is it more depressing than the smiths? i'd have to go with the smiths over the cure, coz nearly all of their songs are fantastic.

thats exactly correct. There are two "cures", the one you hear on the radio ie love cats and the other pop dities and the dark reflective side. the earlier albums are definitely the best, 17 seconds, faith and pornography. and later on disintegration and bloodflowers. surprisingly i think wish has some of their best work. from the edge of the deep green sea is one of my favourite songs ever.

the cure are so good.can't wait to hear the new album.its supposed to dark again and possibly heavy.

well, i agree with that but i was more getting at that i felt there were too many boring middle of the road songs on the album. i quite like their dark stuff like a forest, and the poppy stuff lke love cats, its just the in between stuff i dont like
