I hope i am not covering old ground here if i am i appologise, but i have a wee problem concerning my remote control, the batteries ran out and i had none to replace them within the 10 minuite limit.

got batteries the following day and put them in reprogrammed it as the manual says for my Philips tv, but..... now when i press the tv guide it goes to it flashes once and reloads the page.

Has anyone else experinced this and if so how did they resolve it please, it is now annoying!

thankyou in advance for your help.

    Fi

    Hi there,
Try some of the different codes that are supplied on the Sky Customer Service interactive channel. Press "Interactive" and then choose Sky Customer Services. There is a whole section there dedicated to remote codes.

    HTH, Damo.

How do you mean it flashes once? What exactly flashes? The remote LED or the TV screen or the red LED on the digibox?

    the screen on the tv.

when you press tv guide, the guide comes on screen for say 5 seconds then it goes black and comes back on again, and it is hard to tell but it seems to come back a different size screen. i ahve a 34" maybe that has something to do with it, the way it can change size, but then again before teh remote control batteries ran out i had no problems.

Hmm, hard to know what is causing it. I think it may be something to do with Scart switching as something similar happens on my (JVC) TV when I turn tv on (it automatically goes to Sky via Scart) and press TV Guide or Sky button.

But if it didn't do it before, it's puzzling! Maybe reboot the box? Or reset the remote by removing batteries for 15min or so?

It's possible that you may be using the incorrect Philips code..
i.e. Correct manufacturer, but incorrect device.

As far as I can remember, the process is (check your manual):
Hold down [Select] and [Red] until the remote flashes twice.
    Press [TV].

Enter the Philips code - Remote should flash.
    Press [TV].
    Press [Power off].
If TV turns off, Press [Select].

    If it doesn't, repeat:
    Press [TV].
    Press [Power off].
until it does power off, and then press [Select].

The above cycle is used to select from the different Manufacturer's products. When the TV turns off, try switching it back on again (using your TV remote control), and continue the cycle, until (if!) it turns off again.. i.e. selecting the next Philips device in the cycle which switches your TV off...

    Confused? I am!

    Lol TY,

however i re programmed the unit as sugested, and i tested it upstairs on my other tv and it doesnt flash, so it must be a problem with the tv.

I did however notice taht when you press the SKY button it goes to the station Sky is on and if you press tv guide it seems to be trying to do the same, ie finding the station sky is on.

    does that make sence?

it does to me but hard to explain, but we know now it is the tv downstairs that is the problem.

I'd do a 'Resetting Changes' reset - to 'unconfuse' the remote and then start again:

To perform a reset press tv and then hold select and red together for around two seconds (until the red light blinks twice). Now key 999 (red light blinks once for a long time and then twice quickly).

For the SkyDigital remote control this changes the TV model code back to default 038, clears the macro and deletes any Key Magic changes that you have made.

Seargen, thankyou it was the macro that was worng, once i did what you said and re entred the code and then fixed teh macro it works fine, a bit slower but no flashing which was the problem, TY very much
