Just remembered a few minutes ago and checked the numbers. Can you believe the relief in my numbers not coming up? Its not as if we ever get anything but just imagine! 2 or 3 years after the lotto started the oul lad couldn't find the regular sheet of numbers. He was in a hurry to get back to work after his tea break so we told him to get quick picks instead. In the meantime the oul one found the numbers just before the draw. I begged her not to check them in-case they came up. "Ah we'll just check them for a laugh son", she said. She wasn't laughing when 5 numbers came out. Like ding I was sitting there praying that the last number wouldn't come out. Can you imagine loosing out on a million quid? Thank god we were just disappointed rather than suicidal. 5 numbers averaged about £500 back then.

The other side of the coin was last year while I was serving behind the counter in the family newsagents. I thought a customer had asked for a 4 panel quickpick. When I went to give it to him he said that it was a 6 panel he wanted. I offered to do another separate 2 panel to make up the 6 panels but he said no, he wanted 6 panels on the one ticket. I put the 4 panel to the side and gave him what he wanted. Normally I'd sell the spare ticket to the nest customer that wanted it but I forgot about it. I only remembered it after the lotto machine went off at 7:45 and kicked myself cause now I had to buy it or else the till would be out and I already had my own ticket. I wasn't kicking myself later on though when I checked it and found that I had won £1400(€1778) on it!!:D :D
