Y'know those Rail passes that let you travel freely round Europe for 1 month/2 months/whatever? Anyone know the cheapest place to buy them from?

Euro rail is a Railway ticket provider

You are looking for an INTERrail ticket

Saying that you can get INterrail ticketse off Euro Rail fairly cheaply
I'll grap you their URL now.

If your in College though go to your "Student travel office". Its probably subsidised by your SU.

Where do you think you will be going???

I don't recommand the InterRail ticket if you plan on going in to NON-EU parts of Europe(by that I mean eastern and the Balkins). This is because you have to pay for more than half off all the fairs you will be getting in these parts and in Bosnia it isn't even supported at all...

There is a fair offered by alot of continental train companies and is almost in institution now... YOUTH PASS (its for under 25s) and very very reasonable... Its like an ordinary fare but excellent value

    EuRail
For those that aren't Bum students(or under 26=Youth)

    Usit Site
Goto the Interrail link (You can get an interrail ticket if you are a student or under 26). But READ THE SMALL PRINT on the usabilty of the ticket. it is very limited(only 2 or 3 trains a day). Most in Eastern europe u have to pay half-fare...

Ooh, get it subsidised eh? Have to look into that.

Can't see ourselves leaving the EU, seems a bit too dodgy out there in Eastern Europe.

Countries defintely to be visited: Finland, Germany, France, Italy and maybe Sweden (not necessarily in that order :)). Though we could take a few detours on the way round.

What're the trains like? Can we take any train that takes our fancy (inside the EU of course)? I assume theyre all open carriaged trains, not private sections like? :]

Edit: Ah just saw those links, cheers :]

    it appears so

as i said in another post last summer.
If you don't intend on travelling much(more than 6 or so train hops). then don't get an InterRail Ticket... By one way youth passes form place to place... If you don't feel so sweet with that then fork up the extra cash for the Interrail pass...

also PiE... even in the EU you have to fork up extra for most trains(only 2 a day mostly that you don't have to... sometimes never any at all)
My 2cents is: "read alot and buy a rail directory for europe"

From the sounds of your plan I'd go for the 1 month all zones ticket(u never know where u might go and who u might meet). If you are planning on going for more than a month DON'T buy any InterRail tickets...

[EDIT]Get a Group discount from your college ;)[/EDIT]

You'd be mad not ot visit Czech Rep(lived in Prague for 6 months :) ), Poland(Krakov is a must), Slovakia (Bratislava is the unspooled Prague), Slovnia(and they say Ireland is green), Croatia(oh my god the beachs), Estonia(only a short ferry trough the ice covered Baltic from Helsinki).... WEstern Europe is nice but the East is a gem... I'm off to INdia via train this summer :) Iraq better not be invaded by the time i get there...

Just noticed its cheaper to buy your ticket direct from INTERRAIL.com than USIT... Unusal me thinks

Aye, I know we'd be missing a lot by not visiting the East, but for our first time... eh, stick to the ones we really wanna visit :]

    Cheers for the help.

Prices look the exact same to me btw...
