As I am new to satellite TV and I live on a disability allowance. I would like to know the cheapest method available of receiving satellite channels via a minidish.

Sky digital looks interesting but a little expensive and my local dealer is not very helpful, re information on alternatives?..

I have read about the new "Freeview service" now available in the UK where you only have to pay a - one off - charge for a box/receiver. However, is it available in Donegal, as yet.

My main problem is that I am having serious problems receiving normal TV via my aerial ever since a new factory was built blocking my signal from the local transmitter. So it now looks as though satellite is my only alternative, provided I ca afford ?..

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

    Many thanks.

    Yours,

Freeview in certain parts of Donegal is available, but as it is a low power UK service, you would have to be getting an excelent analog signal from limavaddy or Brougher mtn and thats unlikelly.

The FTV solution will give you lots of channels plus the 5 uk terrestrials, for no monthy sub.
For RTÉ etc you will need a minimum Sky Family pack subscription, nearly €30 per month.
    Read http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?s=&threadid=37638
for FTV details, expect to pay up to £300 stg for a box card and dish on the web and whatever it costs to install locally.
    After that you pay nothing.
