    Hmmmm,

Well id reccomend going on a 75/25 for TV/DVD price wise, get yourself a nice big box ;)

And a mediocre DVD player, the Cyberhome 505 is v.nice for its price (170).

Its one major flaw is lacking ability to play DVD-R. (otherwise picture quality and sound is excellent, tis region free, plays mp3s and it looks slick and is very solid(german built) in comparison to some of the Sonys etc i have seen for the same price)

You can Get good deals on the Panasonic Widescreen t.vs atm.

Go have a wander around the Sales, somthing nice may catch your eye

Surprised you don't like Sony TV's as the WEGA TV is a classy bit of kit. Especially the 100Hz FX series which looks more elegant than the curved cabinet of LS series! ;)

I have a JVC myself and theyre very good. Also very worthy of a mention is Panasonic and I hear Toshiba are good too though I've no experience with Toshiba.

For DVD player, I guess you could try and get same make as TV and mabye try for a package deal. I have a Powerpoint DVD player which is multiregion "out of the box" and will play MP3, VCD, SVCD, and even JPEG images! It sells at €149 or maybe less now.

Get a nice widescreen TV and as for your DVD player get one that also ahas a Video Recorder in there.

    We got a 28 inch Widescreen(phillips) and a VCR/DVD player(JVC)
of the value of Approx 2500 euro

I've never seen a DVD/Video combo thats worth mentioning. Poor build quality.. and common output components, no thanks.

And thats a ridiculous price for a Philips 28". Sounds like a Currys buy to me.

It couldn't have been €2500! The JVC combo is €499 roughly. And the telly would cost about €1000 or less if it's flatscreen.
