He has studied magic since he was a child. And then studied psychological magic in more detail. He gave up a future career in law to pursue magic.
And he did not just decide he wanted a tv show, he was asked by Kevin Lygo, the head of entertainment commissioning at channel 4 to put a show together. And he has since had 3 TV specials, a whole night devoted to him which has been repeated and a series which will be shown on channel 4 in the new year.
You shouldn't make stupid comments about things you haven't got a fuking clue about.

He's definitely not a "twat", as pigman so eloquently put it. Maybe his upper-class and well educated demeanour offends you?

I think his show is good, it's pretty fascinating, i'd love to know how a lot of it's done. A lot of it is simply down to him being very attuned to body language and little psychological props that most of us are completely oblivious to.

I'd be great if he brought out a book, or does anyone know of any more 'serious' books along these lines, as you just know any TV accompaniment book for Derren's show would be pretty ...fluffy.

Btw kinda off topic, did anyone see "Criss Angel - Mindfreak"?
He was magician of the year and the show was on Christmas Eve. It was a mixture of stage magic, street magic and Stunts. Some of the tricks were unbelievable. Definitely someone to keep an eye on for the future.

He once said he doesn't "read" peoples minds but how does he do it, thats what I want to know. But I don't think theres going to be a special on that anytime soon. I'm definitely fan of his. I like David Blaine aswell and I saw this special on Christmas Eve, hes like David Blaine but darker, his name is Kriss Angel(sic). Anyone else see it?

Yeah Ive seen some of the stuff, very good. But I dont think his kind of style transfers well to the T.v. its too easy to get suspicious.

Derren Brown is amazing. I watched that mind control night and was literally stunned by some of his abilities. He also extremely witty. The little tit bits he threw in between his shows were marvellous. The best thing for me was when he conned the advertising guys. That was brilliant.

The pick-pocketing tricks is amazing, especially when he takes off his tie. But he does say that any expierienced pick-pocketer could do that as well.
