    By Rory Kelleher

INTERNET: Mr Sean Reynolds, managing director of RITS, says that 2600
magazine, otherwise known as the hackers quarterly, publishes lists of
locations and times for hackers in various countries to meet up.

Until recently he said the phone boxes on St Stephen's Green were
listed as a meeting place for hackers and virus creators.

The Garda says it is aware of the magazine listings and that groups of
    Irish hackers have been meeting.

The meetings took place on the first Friday of the month from around 5
p.m. to 8 p.m. but the listing for the meeting in Ireland has
    disappeared in the last issue.

Mr Reynolds says this is probably due to action by Garda.

that made me laugh, vicious hackers, you'd swear they're out to destroy the net..

there is such a thing as good hackers or "white hat", the people that built the internet into what it is today,

who find faults and show people so that they learn from their mistakes
Mr Reynolds says this is probably due to action by Garda.

i think they might of stopped the groups for a different purpose,

its hardly illegal to meet up and talk about technology,

i think theres more danger in security experts turned bad
    "queue the evil music"

as to the content of the meets , how do they know unless they actually attended , every 2600 meet is different

I would say after a matter of time they will attended, but the meetings are a pretty good idea... it make's me sick to the stomach when I look at deloitte and touche's having dot.ie domains related to security, quoting material from ISS and Bruce Schneier. They claim to be on the forefront of Irish security if you ask me their sites are notting be expensive tax returns for their companys. Sure every news release they have ever made has been laughed at.

    :)
Just one A4 sheet with a couple of boxes stating I am not a member of the garda force or media to sign and that would cover you once it was signed by every one in front of every one even if the name you signed was wrong or they signed was wrong no information at any meeting could be used in a court of law legally.

Sure most of the old meetings the topics were hardware mainly.

Not breaking any laws etc... i am sure these will be the same

    cya there..

well i heard that if you ask a person if he/she is a garda, by law they have to answer truthfully, or funnily enough deny it but have no cause for a case,

a case of beer methinks is on order
