Reluctantly giving up Sky

I have had the full Sky package for a year now, but due to unfortunate employment circumstances, I have to cut back on all expenses. So, €60.00 per month is too much.

I have arranged for NTL to turn on their Go Digital instead. Am I mad? I'm getting some bad vibes about NTL Digital.

I kinda thought that I'd mess around with the Digibox and get a FTV card. I also have a PC Satellite card I can connect.

Is there a great reason for keeping the Sky, cutting down to the Family pack, and using the FTV card for ITV / Channel 4 etc? Or will the NTL box be better used for the TV progs?

What about my TV Eye and Sky Remote Control in the bedroom? Can they be used with the NTL box? Or is there an equivalent?

Now I have probably confused others as much as I am!

If anyone else was faced with this decision, could you share experiences and advice?

on my experience there is not much point in just keeping the family pack i have it now for over a month and find nothing but old repeats off bbc programs and countless shopping channels on it . its not much good without the sports or movies. dosent even have utv c4 allright the picture quality is excellent but thats about it. dont know about godigital but at least it haz utv and c4.

Well what you could do is sign up to GoDigital, and get a FTV card for yer Sky Digibox for Channel Five, BBC Choice, BBC4, etc...

Not too sure on GoDigital channels but you'll probably find more about it on ICDG website and I believe icdg himself uses Go Digital.

IF you need to cut back why spend money on NTL?

Even without a FTV card or Sub Sky Digital has
    Over 55 Radio
TCM & Classics TV for the Odd Movie
    Boomerang Cartoon
Travel channel the odd decent travelog
    Extreme Sports
    Chart HitTV
    CNN
    Sky News

You usually get RTE, NET, TV3, TG4 on an Aerial.

IF you are on East coast you can even get BBC/UTV/C4 with an aerial.

A Free FTV card is not hard to get.

I cancelled Sky for over a year.
A phone call gets it banck anytime you want (no install).

Don't waste money on NTL if you are short.
