Win2k Prob

Installed Win2k Pro earlier on an upgraded PC. (Duron900, Abit KD7, 256MB DDR-RAM, Hercules Prophet Kyro 4500, the CPU will be upgraded soon, I promise)

Anywho, installed latest 2k drivers for Mobo & Kyro along with SP2. Started installing some games, CS works fine but JediKnight2 and MOH both screw up when I launch them. The screen immediately starts flickering black&grey/white while the music kinda plays in the background (AC97 codec) and I end up having to ctrl+alt+del -> log off to get out of it. System should easily run those games...

Anything I can try?

Wel youve been posting here a while, so im guessing that you've updated your drivers for you graphics card (As per yor post)

perhaps the Quake 3 engine isnt happy with the Hercules Prophet chipset (Not sure, is it Nvidia in nature)

thats the only problem i can see from your description, since both JK2 and MoH ( i think) run on the Quake graphics engine and CS (Counter Strike i assume) doesnt (again, i think)

Aye have all the latest drivers and game-patches.

Kyro ran MOH easily a few months back, under WinXP though, which is why I reckon it's a Win2k prob. Will probably upgrade (or downgrade, whatever your preference) to XP, but not for a few weeks, so I'd like to get it running smoothly now

Any known issues with any of the hardware/games/OS?

tried Tony Hawks3 just then, screen stayed black, music played... computer rebooted itself

Could it have anything to do with this message from the Hardware Monitor Software I got with the Mobo (Winbond Hardware Doctor):

Well whaddya know, MS Help finally pulled it's weight. Suggested lowering the Sound Recorder's Hardware Acceleration and wahey it worked :]
