Just some pictures I took of sunrises in Killiney over the summer. What do people think of the cropped / uncropped sunbursts? OK I know I need to avoid plants in the foreground and get the camera level and whatever. Apologies for the scans being poor in places. APS 200 film on ??? camera.

Victor, I hope you don't think I'm being too cheeky by making some changes to one of shots (number 2):

    sunburst1.jpg

    What I have done:
Cropped out the top and bottom of the image to make it more of a panoramic, I felt that there was a bit too much "dead space" in the image.
I have also played around with the contrast and the levels in Photoshop as the original was a bit washed out. This is due, I'm sure, to the crap machine print that you scanned from. I think because the machine/operator saw the neg as being quite dark, it/they assumed it was under-exposed and consequently gave it too much exposure when printing, hence, the washed-out look.

If you are thinking of having decent prints made, you should really opt for hand prints, as I have rarely seen a decent print from a machine.
