xawtv and Linux

    Hello

    Im new to linux and to anything unix based realy but I have to create time lapse video using Linux Redhat 8 and the xawtv TV application which I downloaded from the net. I am also using a Wintv card and a Camcorder.
    Can anyone offer any guidance on this.
    I dont know where to start realy

    Setting it up should be relatively painless - just follow the install guide.
    I'd advise you to install bttv2 as well (you may already have it - don't know what rh8 comes with), as it will give you more options when you run xawtv.

    If you're running it as anyone else besides root remember to change permissions on /dev/video0

    launch it with the command:

    xawtv -c /dev/video0

    once it's running you may need to play with the settings to get your camcorder image up on screen.

    I have xawtv installed and can see the fottage from the camera fine.

    Does anyone know of any good Jpeg to Mpeg converters.

    Free ones????

    Thanks that looks like it will do the job.

    Has anyone here used xawtv here before. I dont have a clue about it.

    I need to make time lapse video but dont know how to capture images or view them back again.
