have a problem with my nokia 7650. When someone calls their number doesn't come up at all. I just get "call..."

anybody have this problem? It's probably vodafone's fault, but I'd rather try u people first than sit on hold for ages.

    relevant info:

    V 4.36
    11-10-02
    NHL-2NA

    on a contract with vodafone

Have you swapped all the names from your sim card to the contacts??

Sounds like a faulty phone to me

Two observations... have you asked your network to block our outgoing CLI on calls you make? If you, it is often the case if you block outbound, inbound numbers will be unavailable to you.

If you have the same number (last 6 digits) stored in the phone and/or SIM card, the incoming number is not enough to identify who the call is from, and no details are pulled up from the memory.

I asked to NOT have my number blocked (to be in the directory - or whatever) when I was getting the phone but when I set "send my caller id" to "set by network" then people I call dont get my name. So I'm thinkin that they got that wrong. Theres an option to override that and just send my id anyway and that works.

I have imported all my numbers from the sim. The thing is though, that the number doesn't even come up of the person calling. If I hadn't got someones number in my contacts I presume that it would just show me there number when they called rather than "unknown".

Ah, well. Have to talk to voda.

<added>Also, surely you can block your id on outgoing calls and still pick up peoples id on incoming ones?</added>

yes you can, just turning off CLI sending on the fone will do this

Irrelevent to tell the network really, just set it on your fone as you have done, set by network seems to follow just exactly what i forcefully set it to previously....i.e. is passive on the issue

as for your actual problem, if it doesn't show up the number of the person on your fone at all then its probally a network glitch, i doubt a fone glitch, but this could be tested by swap'n sim cards.

    all fixed now.

emailed vodafone and they fixed it within the hour. I was impressed. I thought it would be a few days before they even got back to me.

    wonders will never cease.
