Acording to the engilsh times on the 13th they said that the BBC are intrested in bidding for the Premiership when TV rights come up for renewal next April in 2003, they also have had talks with BSKYB about a joint bid.

Peter Salmon, the director of BBC Sport said, “We have all met each other and we are now doing a little dance and working out the right parties with whom to dance and what kind of tune it will be. However, he confirmed that the BBC is keeping all its options open, including live matches."

best of luck to them. i couldn't see Sky giving them up too easily seeing as the premiership is the main attraction on Sky Sports. a joint bid would be good though

BBC would have no interest in getting the full rights to the Premiership as they wouldn't be able to commit the air time that it warrants, what they want is the highlights rights-so they can bring Match of the Day back-they had this arrangement before prior to the current contract between ITV and SKY.

i really do hope that the BBC get at least the highlights back. MOTD on a Saturday night was a real joy to watch. it was in a different league to what ITV and RTÉ are offering

I would love to see MOTD back with Gary, Alan and Trevor. They are the best team of pundits because they buzz off each other and they're analysis is a hell of a lot better than Gaby, Andy and Ally. Plus they show more of the games instead of talking ****e. ITV are a joke. Remember Andy's Tactics truck.
