I can't pick one but my favouites would be:

    Enter Sandman
The Thing That Should Not Be
    Master of Puppets
    Fade to Black

Its a hard one but it CAN'T be anything relaeased after 1986. After their first 3 albums they went downhill !!

Master Of Puppets is always a great song to play.
    Either that or Orion.
    Classics.

Dyers eve - Justice. Possibly the best riff and solo ever!

I have always loved Fade To Black, but I think it would be a tie between that and Master Of Puppets. But I picked Fade To Black because I knew everyone else would do Puppets. :)

Aside from the obvious Master of Puppets, another song I still listen to a lot is Dispossible Heroes..

    Enter Sandman is class aswell.

one or fuel, went for one but on second thoughts should have gone for fuel :)

"gimme fuel gimme fire, gimme that which i desire"

A hard question to answer, since they have several songs which would stand up to each other for different reasons.

ANYYYway, I picked Puppets from that list.

But I really think its a toss between:

    Master of Puppets
    Fade to Black
    Orion
    Unforgiven
    No Leaf Clover

    Honourable Mentions to:
    Battery
    Disposable Heroes
    Sanitarum
    Enter Sandman
    The Four Horsemen

End Note: It's quite telling to see so many of songs off the Master of Puppets album being mentioned by the way ;)

However, I do not subscribe to this idea of "anything after 1986 is crap" in case anyone thinks I'm implying it - which I'm not. But that's another arguement for another day.

    Fade to Black by miles.

Very difficult. One is my favourite, closely followed by Master of Puppets, The Thing That Should Not Be (especially the S&M version) and Fade to Black. I hope that everyone has heard the bootleg acoustic version of Fade to Black - pure magic.

die die die my darling (i know its a cover but i still like it!)
    for whom the bell tolls
    seek and destroy
    fade to balck
    one
    sad but true

    MASTER! MASTER!

The first thing I ever heard from Metallica was the garage days revisited stuff. So "am i evil?" (which i know is a cover) would be one of my favourites (not the live versions). But overall i'd have to choose Orion.

I saw metallica when they came to Dublin in 1992 and it remains one of the best gigs I've ever been to. I don't really listen to them any more but there are a few classics like fade to black and welcome home that you can't ignore as being great tracks.
