Gay and bisexual characters are fairly standard fixtures of Japanese comics (and indeed of anime) - personal favourite characters would be either Shuuichi and Yuki from Gravitation, or on the rather more dramatic and angsty end of the scale, Kamui and Fuma from X....

Just look at any comics from the 80's in the right way. Goddamn some of that dialogue was classic!
