Game again tonight, as per normal meet up on the portal server
    games2.iol.ie at 8:30pm

We'd hoped to have east road cave-in cleared by now but some of those boulders are quite big, maybe next week.

for anyone who's thinking of joining in you can create your character there and it will be available on the boards game server.

do new characters start at first level?

If they do, they won't last long in the Raven scenario. maybe you could introduce a way of levelling them up to say 5th level? That will keep them in line with the group but still playing catch up. Some money and a limited selection of magical equipment should help even the odds (about 3000 gp and max of +1 equivalent bonus on items). Letting htem spend the 3k or whatever on the Raven server might result in them taking items that current players are saving for.

I'll definitely be there tonight by the way.

ps: that comment about them not lasting long was in no way meant to be a slur on the morality of a certain Jak character who shall remain nameless.... :)

    :p

+1 weaps! I'll take one while your at it, since I lost my last one ..

True though, after tonight, I'd say they would want to be lvl 5 to be allies rather than dependents.

Will be there tonight for sure, tis a good mod, and I wouldn't mind hitting 8.

    JAK.

    Something up with the portal?

it's timing out on me :(

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,342 ✭✭✭Mantel

One step forward, one step back. I'm just glad I leveled last time cause I kept seeing the amount 10k that I got a 5th level, never really got any higher :( They undead are hard as nails sometimes.

Aye I think everyone was at a net loss their today in gp and xp :/

Seems a bit tough where we were ... lot of running away going on :)

I see the Witch Wake module has been realsed now.

    http://nwn.bioware.com/downloads/module_witchwake.html

You can even download it useing the nwn update program. 2.9mb, good for at least a night or two :)

"Witch Wake I: The Fields of Battle" offers a solid 2-3 hours of high-quality, story-intensive roleplaying."

yeah, I managed to break even (and I don't carry gold because I know I will lose it :) ), but just about. and that was using the two summoning scrolls I found (dire tiger and a greater elemental).

maybe a side trek to help us get a bit of XP before we continue in Raven? Or keep going in Raven and see what is in the last rooms (the ones coming up). Or we could cheat and have Rev level us up to the next level :)

Was fun last night all the same. I hate level draining undead!

  • Moderators, Technology & Internet Moderators Posts: 10,339 Mod ✭✭✭✭LoLth

witchwake is for 1st level characters so that rules it ou t as a side trek.

Perhaps an adventure for 5th level players? (or 6th) will still be a challenge.

My only criticism of the Raven module so far is that, while we are more than able to take on a spectre, or a greater mummy, or maybe even a vampire, it's taking on multiples of these at the same time or in quick succession that is causing problems. We get worn dwon, use up resources, are weakened after draining etc. IMHO, it would be better if a few were replaced with aombie warriors, or skeleton warriors. Still a challenge but also a nice bit of a breather. No point killing the big bad guy if you are going to die ten times trying. you are not going to get enough XP to make up for the loss.

    sidetrek ideas:
    http://nwvault.ign.com/Files/modules/data/1027196506010.shtml
giant spiders, module not completely finished, but the main quest is there. (lvls 5-10, players 1-4)

    http://nwvault.ign.com/Files/modules/data/1026158289649.shtml
the golden dragon. lvls 1-10, players 2-30 :) seemingly scales to match level.

    http://nwvault.ign.com/Files/modules/data/1029635331920.shtml
sounds good, lvl:5-15 (reviews say it's way too easy for one 14th level) players: multi or single.

    http://nwvault.ign.com/Files/modules/data/1028093315573.shtml
curse of the azure bonds, adaptation. 6th level + but 5th should be fine.

    I'll have a look at I-Z later.

    other criticism:

those scripted traps are not very nice! bad enough with the bandits appearing behind you when you went around a corner, but getting locked in a tiny room with an almost unbeatable (1 to 1) opponent is waaaay too nasty. respawn and you are still in the room! It's a pity the script can be disarmed.

    http://nwvault.ign.com/Files/modules/data/1030975580720.shtml
minotaur mansion :) , any level of character in multiplayer, 1-8 players/ Sounds like a nice adventure.

    http://nwvault.ign.com/Files/modules/data/1032216985946.shtml
    5 hours play, level 7-10, players 5.

    now this sounds nice:
    http://nwvault.ign.com/Files/modules/data/1029438899846.shtml
hackey hackey, no undead: 4-14th level, 3-4 players, about two hours play time (1 session)

    more suggestions later....

last one sounds like my favourite so far. It's short, violent, no undead, might want to check for overly generous merchants so as not to unbalance thigs totally.

I still think we should try to finish the strange temple section of raven first though, it looks liek we are soooooo close to the ending (of this section). But unless we get about 5000xp each for completing it, we will not be in a position to continue.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,643 ✭✭✭Jak

Aye agreed we should try and finish it off after coming this far in it.

Tbh I liked those full scale war type mods a lot - pretty entertaining hour or two.

    JAK.

how about one of the "official" mods. They are supposed to be quite short.

winds of Eremor, Dark rangers treasure or to Heir is human.

problem is, has everyone played these already?

  • Moderators, Technology & Internet Moderators Posts: 10,339 Mod ✭✭✭✭LoLth

    or:

    http://nwvault.ign.com/Files/modules/data/1037506296655.shtml

elegia eternum. lvl:5-15, any numbers of players. 2-3 hours play time. and ranked 3 overall on nwvault.

problem: custom files, we might each have to download it to the local machine 19mb :( (seldon, I'll stick it onto disk for you if ya want).

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,346 ✭✭✭Rev Hellfire

elegia eternum is already on the server, just a matter of ppl downloading it.

  • Moderators, Technology & Internet Moderators Posts: 10,339 Mod ✭✭✭✭LoLth

    ok, last post, I promise.

    http://nwvault.ign.com/Files/modules/data/1031798553570.shtml
BT3, third in a series but you don't need to play the first two.

4 hours play time, levels 5-7 if in a party (perfect for us). reviews say it is fast paced with good combat and some nice puzzles.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,643 ✭✭✭Jak

I have Elegia down and ready to go as well.

If file size is anything to go by - it is utterly fantastic :)

    JAK.
