I have read a thread here comparing the Panasonic GD87 with the Sharp QX10 I found it very useful when considering buying either of the two.

Now I would like to compare the Nokia 7650 and the Panasonic GD87.

So lads and ladys please keep to the topic please.

Anyone that has used both I'd love to hear what you think.

    Thanks

The nokia is huge and the panansonic is one of the smallest phones you can get. The battery life on the nokia is poor and is pretty good on the panasonic. The camera is not great on the panasonic and the nokias is the best of all the camera phones. Thats about all the key points.

when comapring phones / devices i'm a big believer in looking at all the facets of the device - so the 7650's extensability on the software / application side would be a very big part of the comparison

    the 7650 can:

is a Symbian based phone so there are many many games / applications available for it that extend it's functionality - and the coolest thing to see is the almost daily addition to the list (or enhancements to the existing apps)
    http://my-symbian.com/7650/download/index.php

it has bluetooth so can be used for syncing / modem / games / file swapping e.g. ringtones and images (and all thes can be done over IR)

it's offers HSCSD for those on Vodafone - which can be a better option to GPRS if you need to download a large amount of data or requitre a reliable (consistant) data rate

it has Nokia's interface - their usability is pretty much second to none

    Just a word about the GD87;

The menu system is nice, didnt take long to get used to it at all.

The areas in which the Panny beats the Nokia is in form factor and *perhaps* battery life.

Other than that, the Nokia is the clear leader. I purchased the GD87 due to the look and battery life alone. I have had it for a month now and am 100% satisfied, my only gripe being with Vodafone and their crap network which will not allow me to send or recieve MMS messages.

Will probably go for the 7650 as the plonkers in the O2 shops had never even heard of the phone im really interested in (sonyericsson p800) and the vodaphone shop said it will be at least several months before they roll it out.

Just trying to picture that bad boy in my pocket, my sex life will skyrocket, only problem will be sitting down :p

well they never hear about new fones usually in fone shops till the network starts testing them or what ever, and considering the p800 hasn't been released at all yet it will be quite a while before you ever see it in an O2 or vodafone store.Lovely fone but its been on pre-order on alot of fone sites for like 9mts now, kinda taking the piss really....expected release date on expansys was the same as the 7650 back in june/may
p800 does look like a better fone but 7650 does me nicely, fer now ,if i come into a grand amazingly i'd consider upgrade'n to the p800, other than that i guess i'll be waiting on the next gen or something that looks kewl......
