I'd go for WRC2, the first one was brilliant I thought and the 2nd one can only be better with a pile of new features like pits being incorporated.
How about v Rally 3? I know it's out a while and I haven't actually played it but VR2 was very good.

ok while on the subject and asiming we all have PC`s in here so...

What Rally games would you guys recomend for the pc! I Like colin Mcrea 2 for the pc, better than the psx version. So what other good Pc rally games are there!

RALLY TROPHY[ITS THE GPL OF RALLYING]
    Rally masters ,great fun.
Rallisport Challenge [ the high res graphics simply destroy the xbox versions but its very arcade orientated]
All need a good wheel setup as pads just dont cut it if you want realism.

The graphics in rally trophy are incredible, the best gfx in a pc racing game. it came out about 1 year ago and nothing has come close yet.
as for the game itself, i dont know. the handling is nice. low grip and acceleration and braking feel right but the actual phyics engine does not scale very well. someone made a 300hp 4wd escort and it just did not feel right at all. ridge racer territory it was.
then the tracks are just too short and as a whole it just seems like they copied the game concepts from colin mcrae, ie championship works like colin mcrae, the car setup and repair was the same as colin mcrae.
overall its a good game but just didnt hold my attention for more than a week.

in other words its not gpl or nascar2002

The kings of rally are still Rally Championship 2000 and Colin McRae 2.

but its not pc rally games he is interested in its ps2. so go and buy a platinum copy of colin mcrae 2.

Yeah i agree with ya about RT.
I forgot about Rally Championship,id say it shades it as the best for PC.
Pity i cant get a hold of it anywhere though.
I always remember the amazing dashboards in cockpit view and the marathon stages, hmmm I want it ,i want it.

If we`re talking about the same Rally Champ game , it can be picked up in most TESCO`s stores for around 12.99 afaik,

In response to the original question. Get Colin McCrae 3 if you are getting a PS2 game. It's simply the best one.

Colin McRae 2 is probably the best all round on the PC. Rally Trophy is my personal Favourite. Rally Extreme (or something, I have it and can't remember it's name) deserve honorable mentions.

CMR2.0 if your looking for an arcady type rally game for the PC

Rally Champ if tis a sim you desire.

Still waiting to get CM3 for the PC.

Rally Championship eXtreme is pure ****e. ffs. I got it free with my PC last X-Mas and tis a load of balls.

Handling is poor, damage is TOO severe [I mean, you take to the air over TWO jumps and your suspension is seriously damaged? wtf??]

Thanx for the input folks, yeah it is a ps2 game i'm looking for as i think for some reason car games don't quite cut it on the p.c, so far the overwhelming vote seems to be for colin mcrae 3, or colin mcrae 2 as platinium any takers on the wrc series?

    cheers

yeah it is a ps2 game i'm looking for as i think for some reason car games don't quite cut it on the p.c,

LOL LOL LOL.The pc is widely regarded as THE machine for racing sims, with its amazing array of Force feedback wheel support.
Thats why all the best racing sim developers create for pc only, [ Papyrus and ISI spring to mind]
Ever tried Grand prix legends,Nascar 2002,F1 2002 on pc?
    Didnt think so!

everyone is entitled to there opinion and not everybody has the money to fork out for the "amazing array of Force feedback wheel support" that is available for the p.c and personally i'm a big fan of the ps joypad as opposed to my sidewinder, so i'd prefare to play the game on the ps2.

P.S where does this wide regard come from?

i was once like you to.
    then i seen the light.
i thought toca2 and gran turismo were the "realist" yuo could get(alltough toca2 is still up there) none of them are a patch on what papyrus have done.
GPL and Nascar2002 are the best driving games ever made.
their physics engines are almost the same and just about a real as you can possibly get without hopping into a 1967 f1 car and crashing it on the first turn on the nurenberg ring or going 3 wide into turn one on daytona speedway at 180mph.

these are not really games but a vocation, GPL is unforgiving to the extreme. it will take you months to be able to stay on the track let alone be compedative. ive put in almost 500 laps on kyalami and still cant get below 1m 22s.
Nascar2002 is a little more forgiving due to the fact the cars have more grip that oprah holding a steak sandwitch so getting down and racing is that bit easier. being good still takes as much effort as gpl.
plus with these you can race online against people and not some ****ty AI. 43 people on one track in nascar2002.

you obviously have a pc so go and buy gpl, its only €5 and if you dont have a controler buy a ps to playstation adapter for you playstation joypad. play.com have them for about €10. tha is all you need to get going with gpl and you will never go back. i prefer the playstation joypad over a wheel setup. left stick for turning and the right for accel/brake.

[edit] the wide regard is from the fact that almost 5 years after its release gpl is the biggest racing game on the intarweb. something has to have been done right to keep peole interested. even as counterstrike starts do fade away gpl is still growing[/edit]

thanx for the balanced opinion discostu i will check out game for grand prix legends, did a new release of that game come out recently? i like the idea of that playstation adaptor thing i think i saw it for sale on peats website once but out of stock i will have a look again

that pc to ps adaptor can be gotten here, its about 20 euros, dearer then play.com but least its in only in town, i think i will look into it, even having a ps joypad for gta3 would be cool.

    cheers

Well put Disco , couldnt have said it better myself.
Dataisgod, im not sneering but i too once thought GT3 etc were the ultimate in driving until i got a pc.
Id love more people to enjoy the delights of the forementioned GPL and Nascar 2002,and try them out online in a league possibly.
    Seriously nothing compares to it.
TIP: If you do get GPL dont play it in out of the box form ,its a disaster to look at.
With its amazing community of talented modders stunning gfx, sound and track updates are a must download.
Heres one such community[ click on link ] which has in its ranks past and present real life race drivers, hence my statement widely regarded.
