Always check snopes.com when you get something like this - it'll often prove to be an urban legend.

Yeah, and KFC is really made from MUTANT SPACE CHICKENS and that's why they can't call it Kentucky Fried Chicken. I heard it on the internet, so it must be true.

It is just kind of funny that you're pimping 2600 and related activities but still getting suckered by this kind of thing. Remind me to share some of my leet phreaking sekrits with you.*

    * Note that no actual sharing of secrets will really take place...

Wasn't there a similar "story" about women allowing men to lick tequila from their breasts in club districts?

And what about the email widely circulated last year which said that the original senders friends friend was going out with an Afghan who warned her to stay away from shopping centres at Thanksgiving and next day he promptly went missing. What a load of bollocks!Dont you think if this was true about the perfume it would have been on the news?It is most probably an american email-some irish guy who got it decided to add in Dublin into it and edit out the original New York or Los Angeles, before mailing it to a few dozen random adresses.
    Idiots:rolleyes:

Yeah, probably G O'Callaghan, he always falls for stuff like this, the twit.

Or possibly that woman who's on in the mornings, Gerry Ryan is it ? ;) he fell for the bonasi kitten thing, I let him go on about it for an hour before I rang his researchers and told them it was a hoax :D

    I weep for the future

In fairness you would have to be a lil thick to agree to something like that. You get approached by a couple of strangers in a secluded spot? The last thing you are going to do is go with them.

you mean the kitten in a jar thing was a hoax?...i remember getting an e-mail about that and not caring...but wow, someone must have spent a long time thinking that one up.

well...maybe not a very long time
"heh...it'd be funny if someone jammed a kitten into a jar and sold it...anyway, back to making up chain mail"

Seriously, everything you read on the net is true. On a similar note what was that rumour about david beckham that supposedly mad him feel suicidal? I've look three fathoms high and six low and heard nothing.

    Taken from snopes.com

Claim: Robbers in shopping mall parking lots are using ether-filled perfume bottles to render their victims unconscious.
    Status: False.

    Examples:

    [Collected on the Internet, 2001]
PLEASE PASS THIS ALONG TO YOUR WOMEN FRIENDS!!!

I was approached yesterday afternoon around 3:30pm in the Wal-Mart parking lot at Forest Drive, by two males, asking what kind of perfume I was wearing. Then they asked if I'd like to sample some fabulous scent they were willing to sell me at a very reasonable rate. I probably would have agreed had I not received an email some weeks ago, warning of a "wanna smell this neat perfume?" scam.

The men continued to stand between parked cars, I guess to wait for someone else to hit on. I stopped a lady going towards them, pointed at them, and told her about how I was sent an e-mail at work about someone walking up to you at the malls or in parking lots, and asking you to SNIFF PERFUME that they are selling at a cheap price.

THIS IS NOT PERFUME - IT IS ETHER!

When you sniff it, you'll pass out. And they'll take your wallet, your valuables, and heaven knows what else. If it were not for this e-mail, I probably would have sniffed the "perfume". But thanks to the generosity of an emailing friend, I was spared whatever might have happened to me. I wanted to do the same for you.

PASS THIS ALONG TO ALL YOUR WOMEN FRIENDS, AND PLEASE BE ALERT, AND AWARE!!

Utter sh1te of course. And the sunday people had a story about how it was true, quoting a Garda source, which reinforces my lingheld belief thhat these sources dont exist and merely reflect/back up the opinions of the journalist.
But the icing on the cake is that thyey also had a feature on another page on the most ridicilous email hoaxes.:D :D
