Tough choice. Both very different styles. VN more the old fashioned centre forward, a great finisher and a poacher.
Henry, on the other hand has pace, tricks and a fantastic finisher

Who would you have 18 votes

    van Nistelrooy

Impossible to pick, Henry is pacey, tricky killer finisher
RVN is a strong, box finisher. Have both in a team and it would be something to watch

They might complimen eah other quite well in the same team!

However unless united get relegated ... thats not going to happen.

Personally i'd pick Henry, because as a neutral, he plays the beautful game the way its meant to be played, and is better to watch.

I picked Henry, but just barely.

He's such a graceful p[layer on the ball and makes Arsenal a joy to watch.

Van Nistelrooy is more of a clinical finisher (1 goal in every 1.45 games in the Premiership) but he's not as exciting on the ball as Henry.

The two together would be a lethal combination.

    Henry runs out.
V N holds it up and lays it off.
Henry takes it wide of the defender.
    V N slots it in.

If the two played together Van Nistelrooy would get 50 a season and Henry wouldn't be far behind.

Van N is prob a better finisher,ie banging it home from 6 Yards while Henry is more likely to run 74 yards with the ball round the keeper and then scorpian kick the ball into the net.

I think that while neither are the finished article Henry has the potenial to take over the world, he gets better every year.

So that's why I voted for Mr. H not because I'm a Gooner.

probably depends on the style of play of the team...henry suits the swift attack / counter attack whereas van nistelrooy needs people to supply him with the ball(with the exception of his 2nd v basel) in the box. henry plays deeper, and creates chances for himself...i think tho that henry is greedier than VN-he's more likely to shoot than pass. VN can be used as a target man-he's physically stronger than henry and holds the ball up well...tbh i couldnt see henry scoring if he was a lone striker in a 4-5-1 and it was hoofed up to him.

    I've picked Henry coz I h8 Uni'eh

    {serious}

Henry is fast , can stick em in from dead balls and plays all over the pitch, he will win the ball in midfield and if nobody is on then run around three or four defenders to slot it into the bottom corner. The other aspect of his game which I believe gives him an edge is his team-play, he is constantly looking for a player who is in a better postion and is always aware of the positions of the runners and where to put the ball so they can take it in their stride.

Is good to see a top striker who is not afraid to pass the ball a bit and get other players involved, rether than go for glory all of the time himself.

    {/serious}

I would have to go with Henry. I agree with Wenger that he si already leading candidate for Euro Player of the year even despite Frances world cup.

i think that henry is twice the player that Vantapsinanddives is, but then im biased :)

Ruud is great at sticking them home from 6 yards out, but theres not a lot more to his game than that. Id argue that henry is better at holding the ball up because of his ability to dictate the flow of play, something that vn couldnt hope to do.

Again, im probably hopelessly biased :)

Rite here we go i had to pick Henry and here are some reasons i prepared earlier:

Henry is by far the much better all round player he can run at players he can round players he can score tap ins and he can score 20 yarders . He takes corners and free kicks for the team ,some might say this could be an indication that maybe his heading isn't as good as the rest of his game , people who know about football will say it is because he puts in one of the best balls in the premier league into the danger areas..............

Van kiss the boys would be my choice of strikers who when they have their back to goal are most likely to score he is powerful uick and a lethal finisher within a certain range put him outside that range and he doesn't look quite so good..............

    there ya go

that's not the job of a striker tho...wouldnt you prefer him to be in the area getting on to those corners? he is a bit of a free kick specialist so he's going to take those within 25yards if he thinks he can score

yeah but they have enuff players who can get on the end of a good ball and when u consider his corners are very good then why not

    Henry is God !!!

    Gandalf.

arse have enough players who can take a good corner too-ljunberg, pires, cole, van bronckhorst - dont mean to be picky, he's a fantastic player but that's just 1 criticism i'd make against him

Er, so what is your critisism? that hes a better corner taker than the other Arsenal players ?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 110 ✭✭peeve

no, he should be getting onto the corner rather than taking it himself...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,046 ✭✭✭Dustaz

That would be a critisiscm of the manager and not of the player then.

A manager of the team that currently holds the double at that :P

Henry is the best player in the Premiership since Cantona. but he's not as good as Zola. My mate Noddy says so.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,508 ✭✭✭johnnynolegs

Zola is so good this season it is scary

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,832 ✭✭✭Waylander

I thought Henry took the corners because he is not as strong with his head as he could be. That would be regarded as a weakness. Don't get me wrong I am not saying he is useless with his head, I am not even sure I am right but that is why I thought he took the corners. A hangup from his days as a winger I guess.

    voted for Henry as well.
Im not sure if hes a better striker but he is more exciting to watch.

I'm not sure who i'd pick if i was a manager tho if excitement wasnt a factor :p

I'd pick Henry no question apart from scoring every sort of goal he makes them for others.

    Mike.

    all hail Thierry Henry!!!!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,508 ✭✭✭johnnynolegs

    what about wayne rooney? ;)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,392 ✭✭✭jonno

    Henry definately.

He's an all round classy player. RVN just slots them home from six or seven yards. Doesn't take that much effort. Im not saying it doesn't work, they all count however they come.

But Henry is a work horse and scores lots from everywhere, even dead ball kicks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,398 ✭✭✭the fnj

Henry, he just does everything with style.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,508 ✭✭✭johnnynolegs

and he is so french aswell which is a good thing obviously cos the brits hate them and u know enemy of my enemy and all that hahaha

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,832 ✭✭✭Waylander

he can be too stylish though. Sometimes I think he would not take a simple tap in, he feels he has to beat at least three players and stick it in top corner.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,508 ✭✭✭johnnynolegs

yeah but 95% of the time it works waylander

I'm a Man Utd fan so i'm going to say i'd rather have van Nistelrooy. If u want a goal hes ur man!!!! Wat about that classy goal against Basel he was practically on the line and he still managed to bend it round Zubi!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,660 ✭✭✭Blitzkrieger

I'd pick RVN cos Henry's a sulker. If RVN's having a bad game he'll work his ass off. If Henry's having a bad game, he'll do **** all, except have a kick at someone and get carded.

Henry's a c unt too. He won the award for the footballers 'best young player' and walked right past the hotel without going in to collect it. If he thinks that little of the English game, his fellow professionals, and even his own team-mates, I wouldn't spit on him etc.......

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,144 ✭✭✭Runfree

who would you choose. well man u are stuipid enough to pass the oppertunity to sign Henry. I definatly pick Henry so he was a bit raw when the scout saw him. he is french.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,672 ✭✭✭Wolf

I didnt vote because I believe that it depends on what kind of team. If you want a finisher then its the Rudd Dude but if you want someone with pace and creatice guile then its Henry.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 990 ✭✭✭lili

    i would go for henry:)
of course he isn't as efficient as ruud, but he is so smart in every part of game.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,508 ✭✭✭johnnynolegs

exactly he is a good wingman he can play attacking midfield not selfish at all the all round much better player
