you will have to ring up to get the card activated if its brand new. But if its already registered to another box you will get C4 and Itv without ringing up. this has been covered in so many threads before do a search on it or read all about it.

    Thanks irishgeo,

From what I see on old posts they are mainly talking about FTV cards, however this is a sky card. If I phone won't they know that I have my Irish card mapped to the box already? Also I see that some posts says to leave the FTV card in the box for a few hours and you will get C4 and ITV. Will this work with a sky card?

Sorry if I am asking already answered questions, but I would really appreciate some reply.

    Thanks in advance.

A FTV card is identical (at the moment) to a Sky card.

FTV cards are FREEEE (FTV = FREE TO VIEW). It is against the law to sell one. The card belongs to Sky. You get it FREE by phone up the FTV card centre number (works even from Ireland) and give them a UK address and Post Code to send it to.

It is activated by putting it in the Digibox and phoning the FTV centre again (It works phoning from even Cyprus, Spain and Netherlands) with card number and all the box details.

Even if the same person is taking call as took call for susbscription, They CAN'T look up your box to see if it has subscription. They CAN'T look up your TV licence. Data protection Act.

    To change cards reliably:
    Press "Guide"
    Swap Cards
    Press "All Channels"
EPG now changes. It may be instant or take a minute.

Cancelled subscription cards are just the same as an already activated FTV Card (except Irish ones, which are bookmarks).

If ITV works but BBC doesn't then the card is "married" to a differnet Box. You need the UK address and orignal box details to change a card to a new box. Again just ring and they do it.

Changing an ROI sub card to a new box is just the same, except you ring 1800 535 767 and NEED to tell them sometimes you are phoning from ROI as they seem not to know, and thus often will quote Sterling prices :D
(The Irish Free phone or Dublin pay numbers connect to a Call centre in Scotland. Probabily the same place as UK Sky subs, S4C enabling and FTV cards, all different numbers).

Boot box (unplug mains, count 10 and plugin again) with NO card to get all BBC Radio and see FTV card center number in Services Phone numbers. As soon as you insert an ROI card the BBC Radio EPG are removed, as is the FTV phone number!

In fact ALL cards belong to Sky and UK sub, UK FTV and ROI cardboard carrier differed not at all, licenceing use of all Cards here and UK but not outside British Isles.
