Ok I currently have tv from those excellent people at Chorus and Ive decided to get Sky digital.
A few questions for those of you who would be more knowledgeable about these things.
1.What do I need to watch separate channels in separate rooms at once??
2.Are these channels available on Sky.Rte 1 ,Network 2,TV3,Channel 4(or equivalent)and UTV (Or equivalent)I know from other threads that CH4/UTV are not available but the Reason I ask is because Utv and Ch4 show a few programmes that we watch.

    Hi Richie,

Sky currently dont offer multi-room viewing here in Ireland. In the UK you can get a second "low-cost" subscription, with a second digibox, but that is not possible here (yet.) Folk here have been ringing Sky about this for a long time.

All the Irish domestic channels and BBC 1 and BBC 2 are available, but not UTV and Channel 4. TV3 already show such much UTV stuff that you wont miss it, and E4, Channel 4's little comrade, show a lot of Channel 4 programming before the main channel itself.

    HTH,

    Damien.

Hellrazor - one option would be to take out an Irish subscription which would give you decoder/dish and installation. You could then pick up another decoder and FTV card which will give you

A/ multiroom viewing (in 2 rooms at least)
    B/ UTV/BBC/CH4/CH5

I have sent you a PM regarding the decoder and FTV card as I maybe able to supply.

Glad I could help you after your help with my car :)

The Digital MMDS is same channel feeds all. Analog MMDS has not much shelf life left.

Sky is about 10 Euro a month cheaper than a Comparable Chorus Digital MMDS package.

Unlike Chorus after a year you can cancel and still have the box with about 30 channels (about 5 decent ones) free, and nearly 60 Radio free inc all BBC radio.

You need Family pack to get Irish TV, BBC1 & BBC2. It also gives about 20 decent TV channels among the 200+ Channels.

A FTV card in same digibox or a second one (boxes can't share the same LNB unless it is a Dual or Quad. The signal CANNOT be spliit) gives all the BBC inc 4 BBC2s, All ITV regions, C4, Five in addition to free channels that work with no card such as TCM, Classic Tv (movies), Travel, Boomerang etc.

I have two digiboxes and also 2 analog satellite receivers and a FTA Digital Receiver that does 4 Satellites. This and VCR feeds all 6 TV sets giving 10 channels simulanously on all sets.

(i.e. Watch TCM, Boomerang and Animal planet all from Sky, simultanously, also BBC World TV or TV5 and CNNor MTV Germany simultanously.)

OK my shed roof gets photographed by CIA spy planes, but they havn't raided me yet :D
