i haven't got it done myself, but ive heard varying degrees of what its like from different people. depends on your own pain threshold and perception really.
it IS akward after having it done tho, moving it will sting and swells a little.

Silent Grape - It won't be as sore as you imagine, trust me :)
Just don't drink alcohol for a day or so after you get it done, I went on the beer a few hours after getting my upper lip pierced and it swelled a lot.

Where are you getting pierced? BodyShock in Fownes St in Temple bar (bodyshock.ie) are the best in Dublin along with Snakiebite(.ie) in Middle Abbey St.

The rest (with the exception of celestial ring who I know are safe but have never had any piercings there) are to be avoided at all costs, especially Metal Morphosis in temple bar. You're asking for trouble if you go there.

it wasnt sore at all when i got it done
im thinkin of gettin the top of my nose done just in between my eyes

Im having one myself and to be honest it wasnt that painful. Usualy they put a spray on the body part that numbs your skin so you almost dont feel anything. And mine didnt swell or anything.

OMG! I got mine done there too. It wasn't sore at all, it was like getting an injection. I didn't really plan mine, I was like hey maybe I should get my lip pierced and my girlfriend said "Hey get it done now or u'll be too afraid if u go next week" so I got it 10 mins later. I'm drunk.

    Dunno about that place tbh.
You should go into Body Shock under Sè Sì in Temple Bar or Snake Bites... don't remember the street name.
    Too late now though :P

:D My brother works there and he gives me free piercings.
Say Eth0, did you goto the tattoo convention?
That was organised by Paddy from Bodyshock afaik.

I got my nose peirced about two years ago.
    It hurt like ****.

    Then it got ripped out.
    I hurt like ****.

I got it when I was going to see Marduk.
    Marduk are playing next year.

I'm going to get it done again to mark the occasion.
    It's gonna hurt like ****.

I was at it yeah, it was pretty good i have to say :)
    Who's your brother, Paul?

All that said, but I think Christina Aguilera's current additions do not do anything for her.

i know its disguisting, i hate her nose piercing, and lip piercings only look good on certain people...not her. if she dressed differently and did her makeup better im sure it would look really nice. despite all that i still think she's sexier than Britney . they're bith idiots though.

Bassist in the band and good mate of mine is a big peircing head, Even worked as a bodu piercer and he says that the only decent place around is the one at the back of Miss Fantasias. Dunno if thats any help to you, all his stuff was done in there, Septum (inside your nose), bridge (Between Your Eyes), Tongue, Lips, Ears, Neck, Nipples, Bellybutton, Knob and a few more:)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,846 ✭✭✭✭eth0_

Miss Fantasias is awful. They're just a step above going to Claires and getting gunned (who are just above that place in georges st arcade...that place should be shut down). They're looked down upon by the entire piercing/tattooing community in Dublin AFAIK

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,638 ✭✭✭bombidol

From what im told from most piercing heads its the other way around, Glenn (owner) is one of the most respected modifiers in Europe. The arcade doesnt even come into the equasion it should be burned to the ground, dirty kip

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,141 ✭✭✭fisty

    everyone argues about this ****.
im my opinion its the first place you get a piercing you really like is the place that you will go back to and will tell friends about.

Maybe, but i'll stick with Paddy D for my **** :)
There's not much of a demand for transdermals and implants in Ireland if that's what you mean by 'modifiers', Glenn must be pretty bored :)

Very true, everyone always has their favourites, usually the place they got their first or their regular place. Personally im not into it myself, (got my ear pierced once:rolleyes: ) Just going by what my mate said, kinda have to go with him seeing how he was a piercer for a while and knows his stuff :) But id say most of the places around are top quality

Miss Fantasia sucks, I'v heard alot of bad stories from them.
Still, I'm sure all the piercers/piercees of Ireland can all group together in a big hate against Lilac Lizzard :P
Seriously, I wouldn't be surprised if they pierce babies in there :P

What's funny is, you know places like Metal Morphesis are bad, people come into Body Shock having just been in MM saying they said they couldn't do a certain piercing (it's usually genitals) and Paddy is like... of course we can do it. :D

Is that the name of the kip in George's arcade? Guy in Snakebite was telling us about a girl that came into him one day after having her tongue done in that kip - with a gun!! He said her tongue had begun to grow around the stud, and he had to cut away the excess skin with a scalpel. Yummm.....

They're the McDonalds' of piercing. The piercers taken on by them get about 2 weeks training IIRC, and BOY does it show. They haven't a clue about customer care never mind piercing, that fat blonde woman who seems to be the manager is a f*cking DOPE and hasn't a clue, they f*cked up two of my piercings before I copped on and started going to Bodyshock, they pierced my navel ABOVE the navel so it rejected within 6 months.

They don't seem to know the difference between gauges and mm's, and my mate had a simple stretching done in there about 2 months ago and they jammed it in and tore his ear which bled a LOT the next day. They're lamers! grr.

Your piercing is dead :) Live and Learn. Wait till after your play and get it done again.

Stud in your lip? Do you mean between the lower lip and chin? That's called a labrette(sp?) piercing. It's similar to most other oral piercings in that you need to take good care of it to prevent infection, and it heals relatively quickly.

From my mates' experiences though, it can be taken out for a little longer than tongue or lip piercings, both of which can close up within 12 hours.

We all **** up piercings at one point or another. I have a considerable scar in my eyebrow (although that was their fault for giving me a bar that was too long :P)

Eep! Not if it's as new as yours no! If you have one for at least six months or so you can leave it out for a few hours. Yours is probably lost. You could try going back to your piercer and see if they can taper it open again (don't worry it doesn't hurt).

A labret stud is ten times easier to take out and put in than a ring yeah. Don't forget you can get clear acrylic retainers to hide the piercing, although I wouldn't recommend putting one in till the piercings is healed up...about 3 months anyway. :(

Well yes, it's an open puncture wound, it'll take that long to heal completely. You won't keep ANY piercings if you need to take it out a lot.

BTW, try putting the ring in from the outside of your lip? Surely you can see the hole?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 574 ✭✭✭Silent Grape

of course i can see the hole...but whatever way im doing it..it hurts alot.

Yeah it will...try soaking your lip in hot water for 10 mins to open it up, and then lubricate the hole with something like olive oil and it should go through if it's only been without jewellery for a couple of hours

Get a normal stud and just leave out the ball, it's hard to tell if it's there, just put it on again before you goto sleep. :)

I never claimed to be a surgeon :P
Just giving her an option if she wants it back. There's nothing wrong with using olive oil on skin, in fact it's very beneficial in breaking up scar tissue, altho vitamin E oil is the best.
