anyone watch the new episode on sunday night?

thought it was absoloute class, glad to see were gonna be getting a new one every sunday now that the new series is out, thought it may be a dissapointment after the first new episode of the series but sunday nights one really proved me wrong, after 11 years or so theyre still satisfying me. Dont think ive ever watched a programme for so long and enjoyed it so much.

    Long live king homer :D

and i doubt im the only one who has basically seen every single episode

It was a good enough ep on sunday though I would hardly class it as brilliant(though Homers ill fated attempt at crowd surfing was hilarious:D )
Unlike some I dont think the Simpsons has gotten substantially worse with age. There is the odd bad episode but generally they are very good,if not as good as say 4 years ago.BUT TBF the storylines have to bve outlandish nowdays. To test I just thought of three random plots that could be uses.I then realised they have all happened in previous episodes. So many episodes have been made it is hard to come up with fresh ideas. So cut the writers some slack!

They seem to be trying to out family guy family guy. the stupid storyine tangets are very annoying now. it should be let go gracefully and not be remembered as something like the rolling stones(see how i tied that into the storyline of the new episode)

I agree, they should let it go.

There's the odd chuckle in the new ones, but theres no side-splitting moments like in the days of yore.

I can't speak for everyone else, but I really think Homer and Bart are different now from a few years ago. Barts "attitude" has changed, as has his voice and Homer goes out of his way to appear stupid now, whereas he didn't realise he was dumb before.

Can't remember Sundays new episode, even though I watched it.

it was the one where homer went to the rolling stones rock n roll camp.

yeh i agree it isnt in its prime anymore, but still keeps me satisfied :)

like homers song "i take a whiskey drink, i take a chocolate drink, and when i need to peeee, i use the kitchen sink"

i know that had me in stiches :D

i doubt u have seen them all - i mean everyone thinks they have seen all the episodes but there is always one r 2 that u have not seen

Simpsons is still funny but not as funny as it used to be. I remember a turning point it was the jockey ep , Homer discovers the land of the jockeys, that was appaling.
I don't think think they are using the supporting characters in the best way that they used to. I agree on the Homer issuse he has changed.

i must have watched 2-3 episodes every weekday for the past 3 years:rolleyes:
and pretty much every episode that got shown on n2 before that.

but i still reckon there's still a couple i havnt seen (not counting the new ones of course)

homer changing has been the biggest let down for me from the show that has given me so many hours of gleeful enjoyment.

i still watch it when ever its on and have the first 2 parts of my complete simpsons dvd collection.

and if the characters didn't change we'd be hearing

"They never develop the characters. Homer is doing the same thing he did 11 years ago"

but where is the logic in changing homer from a likeable guy who was a bit dim and tried to do the right thing to a loudmouth asshole?

Posting links for downloading episodes off the interweb is probably frowned upon, but if someone were to ask off the record...

I don't know how anyone found that aforementioned episode as "classic".

The Simpsons simply aren't as good as they were anymore, it can be attributed to many factors, some of which have been mentioned in this thread already - I'll add another two of my own personal ones:

+ The changes of Homer and Bart
+ The withdrawal of other lesser-seen characters.
+ The lack of a second storyline in many newer episodes - go back and watch the older ones, there'd be a main storyline and a second one - a lot of the new ones lack this. Hence, jokes get tiresome far quicker.
+ (I may be hurt for saying this one) Conan O'Brian leaving - he seemed to add something almost magical to that show. The script teams (from what I've read) aren't really the same as what they were way back in say 94-99 when The Simpsons were in peak form.

    - Is it time to let the legend die? My heart says no, but my mind says yes. If you are a real fan of the simpsons - I think you'd have to agree - before we see the show degrade any further into sheer tedium. Oh wait, that's right - we already have.

Re: the change in Homer's personality - I reckon they've swapped him with Tony Soprano, who's getting dimmer by the week.
The Reverend Rodney King, Junior? C'maaan!

There is a cool site called play.com, they sell DVDs - make sure it's region 2 for Europe ... Region 1 is NTSC USA!!!
