ITV Channel Islands (Tony query)

    Tony,

Didn't want to post this in the zoo of little Englanders that is DigitalSpy, and don't want "them" to suspect how I know this!;)

Channel's poorer quality and no widescreen switching is due to Channel taking their network feed off-air from Meridian, from one of the analogue transmitters on the south coast. I'm not sure if this is changing sooner or later but seems a cheap and nasty way of getting the feed on air.

Apparently this is the way Channel have been hooking into the network since 1961.

    Cheers,

    West Briton.

    ???
Everyone "knows" this.. And its out of date.

They have a clean cabled feed now. Off air is only backup.

It has even been discussed on DS as why the Satellite Feed is not used.

    So am I...

There are a whole host of web sites out there which will tell you how Channel is different from every other ITV company, in (until recently) not having access to the LNN network feed, having Meridian (before that TVS, and before that Westward Television) as its sustaining feed, even having that company sell advertising on its behalf.

    May I suggest two:

    www.channeltv.co.uk
    www.transdiffusion.org

Anyway, thread moved to the broadcasting forum.

I'll clear this up, me thinks its a case of mistaken identity. It was meant for another Tony, who was posting on Digitalspy.

    Confusion reigns!! :D
