A quick question but maybe not a quick answer.

Could someone post a step by step to getting on to the irish server (both the persistent state and the wednesday session)?

is it as easy as pointing the browser to games2?
What do I need downloaded and installed (in the Mod directory I presume)?
Are characters created online or exported from offline?

Just want to have everything ready :)

firstly you'll need to have the current patch 1.26

Connecting is easy select multiplayer and then online play.
From there just do a direct connect to games2.iol.ie and you'll be on.

I normally use the lan connect and then do a direct connect. Saves a little bit of time since u dont go though all the gamespy rubbish.

Once u have connected, then just create a character as normal, it will be saved on the server (which autosaves every half hour). For the persistent world, I'd advise reading the player guide posted in another topic.

You dont need to do anything else, everything is done server side.

As for the wednesday sessions, they run on a different vault and u connect as before. But that server is only available for the duration of those games and swapped once they finish so things are nice and fair.
