I have tthis program that starts everytime with windows and its a pain. Its not in the start up folder and there is no option within the program to stop it.

How to get stop this program from running.

Is there a panel like in windws 98 for stopping this program running. Its had confis.sys and startup etc in it.

    Please help.

Start -> Run -> msconfig will let you disable startup programs.

Right click on My Computer, click manage, services and applications, services. Have a look through the list for something that looks like the prog you're trying to lose, right click, properties and select stop, then disable. Reboot the pc and see if it starts, if it does you've disabled the wrong prog so have another look.
    Repeat Ad Nauseum.

*Puts on flameproof suit and awaits barrage of "of course msconfig works....*

There are a number of registry entries that control start progrmas

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run *

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run *

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnceEx

    * these are in every windows installation the others may or may not be.

there can also be progrmas run at stratup from the win.ini file to. that is stored in the windows dir.

Grab Startup Control Panel from here. Easy to use and should sort the problem when you start unticking the boxes (unless its caused by a Windows service issue)
