For newbies like Myself to Sky interactive a few words of caution.

I booked a Sky Box Office film (Spy Game) last night at 1130pm. As I was of the
Opinion that the film would be shown for 24 hours I decided to have another look at 1130am this morning. When the EPG asked for my PIN, I became suspicious as I thought I might have to pay again. I rang Sky and asked them to explain, a rep told me that yes, the film does run for 24 hours but it is a 24hour cycle and the cycle is generally speaking from 0630am to 0630am the following morning .So if you book a film at 1130pm it will only run to 0630am the following morning .She also said that it was lucky for me that I had my PIN on or I would have had to pay for it again, as my digibox is connected to the phone, the film would have come on directly.

    (TIP)

If your telephone line is connected to your digibox?
    .
Make sure you have some kind of PIN on, either Parental or Spending limit (set low) .as this will give you a chance to double check what you want to do.

That's good advice - I once ordered a film by accident when I was just exploring box office.

If you dont watch a film you will not get charged. I dont know how they know whether you watched it or not.

    Anyone got any ideas.

This will only happen where the film is booked in advance of start time.
If you should accidently press select when the film is just starting ,say the opening credits are rolling, you wil pay for the film wheter you watch it or not. This was my understanding of what the Sky rep was saying yesterday.

Was watching BBC Watchdog last night and some people were getting massive phonebills and didn't know who was calling the same number - 123 which is the Talking Clock.

It turned out to be the digibox repeatedly dailling 123 even thogh it's only supposed to make ONE free phonecall per month!! Faulty box or something.

The box only phones home once a month IF it gets through (to the freephone base number). If it doesn't get through, it tries again and again and again ...........

In these alleged cases, it is most likely that someone (possibly even a previous owner of the box) has decided to program in a dial prefix of '123' via the Select 401 'hidden' menu. Why anyone should do that is difficult to imagine but I'm sure whoever it was thought it was a clever thing to do.
