As ye have seen from my previous post I'm planning on going on a J1 to the US next summer. However, we have been having trouble tryin to decide what state to go to.

    Which do ye recommend?

    NEW YORK OR BOSTON??

I gave Boston the thumbs up, as most that I know who went to the states on a j1 went there, and found work no bother:)
The immediate area offers a lot of touristy summer work vis a vis the hussle that is New York.
Lots of building going on in both from what I could see, if thats what you want to do:)

Boston, cos it has lower cost of living(i think)

I went to Chicago in the summer. Its a beautiful city and is right on Lake Michigan(it looked more like an ocean to me!), so you might be lucky enough to be in walking distance of a couple of beaches

And jobs are plentiful too, if you're not too fussy of course

I guess, an option would be to fly into NY and try seek work, failing that I could then move onto Boston.

Thanks for all the replies, but keep in mind that I am not interested in Chicago, or Delaware, just between NY and Boston
