So what 2002 albums do you want to speak volumes about?
A great year for albums. Here's my essential music:

    #1 COLDPLAY
....wasn't mad about the last album nor the first single but bloody nuts about the EVERYTHING else on this.
The best album i've heard this decade.

    BRMC
..... class, again nothing to skip

    VINES
..... not rated by everyone and i thought my appetite
for that raw rock was behind me but all the songs have the
most simple guitar and perfect melodies. There's a cobain/lennon thing in there

    GEMMA HAYES
..... could have been even stronger but
left out some great EP tunes which only leaves it very strong!

    DOVES
..... my champs of 2000, and this is a match

    TRAIL OF DEAD
...... beautiful noise, an album full of cracking tunes that probably deserves more recommendation than the
rest cause i think most of you missed it. don't, it's a classic

    SIGUR ROS
..... it'll never match their live experience but it's
the closest i'll get to soundtrack for heaven

    Mundy
    Death In Vegas(best intro)
    Fischerspooner
    Foo Fighters
    Damien Rice
    Low(check out track2 canada),

Mmm.. I've heard conflicting reports about this being released last year / this year or whether it's even regarded as an album but..

    Turin Brakes -- The Optimist

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 248 ✭✭Achille

Turin Brakes was obviously an album, since the full title is "the Optomist Lp" ;) Unfortunately, it was 2001.

anyway, an unbelieveable amount of good albums this year.

    Irish...
    Damien rice
    Mundy
    Gemma Hayes
    Redneck Manifesto
    The Jimmy Cake

    crazy foreigners...
    PEARL JAM
    Queens of the Stone Age
    Sigur Ros
    *whisper* ...Oasis :D

    i'll think of more later.

my beautiful ( if i do say so myself-which i do) list is as follows

    *the frames-breadcrumb trail- it's live, it's brilliant, & i'v listened to it 14million times & i'm still not sick of it :)
*damien rice-o- it's so so pretty ( i'm too tired to come up with better words, and anyway, it is!!), 1 flaw, no 'the professor'... sniff...

    *phantom volume 1!!- woo!!!!

I'v not had that much moneys with which to purchase music this past while..... so this is basically every album i'v bought in the last year.... sad, really.....

about sigur ros, could someone enlighten me as to some of his/her/their songs/lyrics, because iv never heard him/her/them, and people keep giving out, and from the sounds of it they're/he's/she's quite the magickal musician/s so inform me!!!!!!

same happened me in hmv, listened to first 2 minutes of album
    and had to buy it.

a fine combination of sweet pianos, strings arrangements and of course clanging guitars. Their last album Madonna had a few
great tracks("mistakes & regrets" rocks!) but isn't as good overall as this one.
