Is there anywhere on da net where you can download recent films e.g. oceans eleven, or any other blockbusters. Any help would be greatfully appreciated.

I don't agree with downloading films; mp3's are one thing - I've bought many an album after hearing the tunes on mp3 first - but an entire film?

Do the people that download films ever bother to buy/rent the the good ones?

I hold good film making in pretty high regard though; personaly I think it deserves more as a medium than some dodgy quality download.

    Go rent a DVD.

I don't think anyone would vehemently deny doing it - I don't do it, but maybe that's cause I'm on a 56k connection. Or maybe cause I've no desire to watch a grainy image of someone jerkily holding a video camera in the 52nd row from the front in a cinema.

Anyway, that's beside the point. It's not that we're saints, it's more that we don't want Boards.ie to be shut down/sued whatever cause someone is trying to pimp films off the net.

This was said about games/software but is just as relevant for films:

What he said. Never mind the morality of it - if a film is worth watching, it's worth watching properly; in perfect quality on a big screen with a massive surround system and a bucket of popcorn. I'm constantly amused by the high pitched geeks who squeal about how they saw spiderman a week early or whatever.... Great, you saw Spiderman a week before it came out in a handycammed poor quality divx on your 17" monitor through a pair of headphones. Moron!

If I see any links to sites where you can download films I'll delete them and ban the poster for a week.

This is the kind of service that i was on about when I started this thread. It is a pay service where you can download films. Not a bad price if you get to keep them forever.

well at the risk of getting banned I aint giving a link but I hear Kazaa is very good file sharing program,so I suppose you could get any film you want off that. But you would have to download Kazza and try it for yourself ;).Also I download Black Hawk down [after I saw it in the cinema] I taught is was so good I decided to buy it on DVD that brings my DVD collection up to a grand total of err... 1.The only reason I downloaded it was that I couldn't buy it here yet. direct connect is also a good program

    Missing Disclaimer:

*Download Kazaa at your own risk. It does contain spyware which will hog your lovely bandwidth letting unscrupulous companies know what you're up to. Removing this spyware can be done with programs such as Ad Aware, but the only way you can ever be certain that they are indeed all gone is by doing "format c:" and reinstalling windoze..

If you're going to download a program to help you download hacked games or ripped films, you might as well download a hacked version of said program, without all the nastiness.
Has anyone ever downloaded an entire film over a 56k modem?
How many copies of the DVD could you buy for the price of the phone connection?

Eh..........no. If you have a decent amount of knowledge as to where spyware lies and operates then you can remove all traces. Installing windows would be a last ditch solution.

kazaa lite is a better option, also i have a 512k net link which can hit 400KBs [its uncapped] so i can download a film faster than i can get to a video store, also i can watch films that havent even come out in the cinema

Mordeth: it might not however, be worth paying 7 euro to see

It might well cost someone (e.g. Your college/your boss/your parents) more than €7 euro for you to download it..

If its not worth seeing in the cinema, then it's probably not worth downloading either.. Do something valuable/creative with your bandwidth!
