I want to play quake over the net in winxp.
I got quakeworld but it doesn't seem to work properly. I think winquake does but the website I found to get this is busy.

    Any suggestions?

what is the problem? I play qw over the net fine in winxp, the only problem i had was monitor refresh rate which happened with every game, and that is easily fixed

Can you post up some more details? Are you getting an error message etc..

Winquake isn't really much use unless you plan to play bogstandard netquake. Most (if nearly all) the online quake servers run quakeworld.
