One of Wexford town's oldest firms, Pierce Engineering, is to close with the loss of 62 jobs.

The company is being shut down because of a dispute over relocation.

Yesterday, workers rejected Labour Court recommendations on redundancy payments.

The company said workers were aware that a vote against the recommendations would result in the plant's closure.

A Union spokesperson said staff were concerned that if they agreed to move, their jobs would not be secure.

    Nuts..

"Pierce Engineering has offered its workers €210 for every year of service for an agreement to move to a new site in Wexford."

No jobs at all v. the possibility of no jobs, makes sense.

Grand, so they refused shiny new premises, new (probably out-of-town) location, in the same catchment area...... Their job roles are not changing, I presume there would not be new contracts and the like........ Its not like their going south of the border down Me-hico way...

Cutting off their nose despite their face.  Pure Daft.
