    is there a big (or any) advantage in up grading from win2k to win xp???

    No. XP only really has an advantage over 98/Me. Many people even argue that 2k is better than XP...

    Xp is eye candy TBH. In time some advantages will be apparent (like Win98 compared with 95) but unless you have a few games that won't run on 2000 but will on XP (getting rid of the need for dual-booting) it's not worth the hassle unless you feel the need for the latest and greatest.

    That said, if you've something like a P4/Athlon running at 1-1.5 (or higher) GHz, lots of RAM (more than 256) and a nice graphics card your performance won't suffer at all by installing it.
