Pool and Utd to treat Worthington Cup seriously?

I reckon he will take it serious alright!! Not. I am sure he will put in a side that he wants to challenge for first team league spots but tbh I cannot see him given it 2 fiddlers.

As for the pool, I am sure they will... remember it is part of the plastic treble!! :D Seriously I doubt it either, what is are they going to say?

Fielding weak teams for the FA cup annoys me, simply because its the premier cup competition in the world. The Worthington cup is just pointless fixture congestion to the teams challenging for the top 5 or 6.

Sure, you get a uefa spot from it, but its far easier to get one through the inter-toto cup. I have no problem with the larger teams fielding weaker teams as it gives 1st division/lower premiership sides a chance at a bit of cup glory.

Ferguson is taking this round of the the League Cup seriously because if the Man Utd team qualify for the next round it will count towards Roy Keane's ban. Then Keane will be back for the Liverpool match.

would love to have Keane back for the l'pool game.

    An classic alright!! NOT

Very hard to call Utd v pool games, Keane will be 3-4 games off his match fitness level, then again if he was in a wheel chair he would be better than most of them

Fergie and Houiller make that promise every year as it the poltically correct thing to do.

Not necessarily, he might get a game or two before the ban kicks in. When is it due to start, the ban i mean?

Liverpool will take the League Cup "semi-seriously", I'd say the teams they field will be nearly but not quite first 11 for the first few rounds and then start including the usual suspects after that, mind you Liverpools strength in depth these days is such that the second 11 is still a pretty good side. Man Utd won't take it at
    all seriously. Nor will Arsenal.

    Mike.

exactly - that is how liverpool won it a couple of years ago they were lucky in the first few rounds and then started to put out a full squad coming up to the end of the competition
