my local shop tells me that I need at least an 80cm dish to mount a multi lnb rig - this true?. I have a minidish already and want to add a FTA box.

    Hi ,

I have put a Quad LNB (philips) on a 60cm circular dish, without any problem (here in Limerick City).

I run 3 boxes from the dish...

I was also told by local Sku installers that you would need an 80cm dish....I rarely see any picture breakup...never more than once a week anyway

    regards,

But if you did have 90cm dish very heavy rain would not affect picture and you could have HotBird and Astr19 on the dish too.

I agree on larger 60/65 cm Irish Mini Dish a Twin or Quad should be OK. You should not see "breakup" any more than normal.

Where you get the Quad Dave?

Try Tony's website. www.Satellite.ie As far as I know he stocks the Quad LNB for the mini dish.

The guy at the shop probably told you needed a new/different dish because dual output LNB's don't exist to Sky Minidishes. Quad output LNB's do exist however (these are designed in mind for those in the UK who have Sky + and second discounted subs) and I'm sure most competent dealers should have them or know where to get them.

Tony's Quad is competitive. Iv'e been looking as it would reduce my dishes by one (or let me point at something extra). Not this month though. (I'm using 3 x single LNBs all pointing at 28.2 -- but two of them was £7.00 each -- all gone now and one off an old analog system)

I bought it from Brymar Ltd.

I bought the dish + 20M of cable from a guy on EBAY for UK£20.
