Has anyone here managed to lock on the Globecast channels on 12.5w recently? What dish size is required for those here?

    12.5w - 11.014H 20150 3/4

I can get a good lock on MBC no problem, but the Globecast channels don't even register.

:( I need an upgrade, are those 1.8m dishes expensive?

    Edit:

    £725! - http://www.satellitesuperstore.com/fixed-dishes.htm

11.606 to 11.690 Globecast is Americas beam. So you won't get them.

The ones in same 12Ghz block as MBC are low SR. I find lower SR are either feeds so perhaps have less power or maybe need bigger dish.
Also with lower SR feeds they seem to often change the frequency or even the SR. I can't get lock of MSNBC (15W) certian times. Also though www.lyngsat.com says MSNBC is 11521 H I only get it at 11516. The other transponders are at the "correct" frequencies.

So try different times of day, try when sky very clear (more signal) and search up/down at same SR.
(if published SR wrong it would take a very long time to find "right one").

Also I think "feeds" are simply not there all the time. (saves satellite power?)

I'd like a 1.8m motor dish instead of my string & sealing wax 1m (cost €10 from Urlan TV as it was missing some vital bits).

I'm not sure I even "see" 12.5W at all!

yep sure are, the main problem is they are only available in fixed configuration at present. Kesh electrics used to make superb dishes up to 2m but alas lack of demand has forced him to stop

£725 Sterling is about €1130. That new North American Sports Channel is €14.99 a month, so I could get over six years of that for the price of the dish :)

BTW Thanks for checking that Tony.

Last night the signal strength on the Globecast channels increased dramatically. I was able to get 50% signal strength on a 1m dish.
