Where I live, the green bin is collected only once a month. This is disgraceful! I think it should really be collected twice a month. I'd even be happy with every 3 weeks compared to the current situation. My green bin is full after just two weeks.
Dont get me wrong........im pleased that the government is making an effort to increase recycling but the present situation is just not good enough.

The wheelie bins only get collected once a month?
If you are being made pay extra, for a service, then that service should be provided to standards acceptable to yourself. If it were me (and no I am not fortunate enough to live in a wheelie bin area) I would lodge a letter of complaint with the Council involved, especially given the fact that as a person participating in the recycling scheme you must pay more and are legally obliged to pay the recycling indemnity.

It is a health hazard to have too much litter around the place and the authority involved has a duty to provide a regular and effective service, again this is particularly pertinent given the fact that wheelie bin users are obliged to pay for the service and may not secede from the scheme in question.

Oxigen from what i know (and that aint a lot) do this once a month thing and it is free

give it a chance and do it for a few months...get in touch with the company involved and ask them about the service..find out more

At te end of the day it all boils down to economics...no company is gonna get involved with anything that is unprofitable....its just the way of the world

The way I see it....and it is the way I see everything....the only way u are gonna get them to collect it sooner is bydemand

Get on to ur neighbours and discuss it with them

    (a) get a second green bin.
    (b) cut down on the amount of packaging you use!

Ditto. There a house in my area that has 5 green bins! Also do you compress the rubbish down in the green bin? Most of the stuff that goes into it will compress down really well. Mind you, you look a bit stupid jumping up and down in it but it works. I've had to do this a couple of times when I've missed the collection day.

Though I dunno you manage to fill a bin in 2 weeks!!! unless its commercial waste.
