Digibox Problem

I have a Grundig digibox (about 2 years old) and for the last few weeks every 30 seconds or so the picture and sound freezes for a second, and then continues as normal... for another 30 seconds or so.

I just had the dish checked and re-wired and both are fine and the engineer told me it was a problem with the digibox.

Anyone know where I can buy a new one? I would get it repaired - but I can't be arsed sending it off, and waiting ages without a digibox.

    Thanks

I can supply a new one but it s a lot more expensive than a repair. Checkout my site below

Sky may offer you a recon box for a nominal price, maybe worth checking out

Failing that, you could go down the second hand box route.

It has to be said though, that Sky didn't really think through the "what if the box breaks down" scenario all too well.

They thought about it too well! You own the box from Day 1 (though if you don't keep your contract, you may be fined the price of the box) so that washes Sky's hands of it! After a year, it's your problem, not theirs! Most cable companies retain ownership of STBs and you are only using the box "on loan". So, regardless when it breaks down, the company changes it costing you nothing.

Of course, if Sky lent boxes, and you cancelled, they'd take the box back.

Electroplus will repair your box or replace it with a reconditioned one for €100.00. Least that was the price 5 months ago.Sorry I cant find the phone number. Perhap they are on the Net.

    I,ve just remembered.
Some time ago, subcribers were writing on this board that they had threatened to cancel their sky subscription because their digibox no longer worked and Sky had offered to replace the box free of charge.I dont know if this is still happening, but it,s worth a try. Im sure there are threads on this from the recent past.
