Shadows on my Satellite

    Gentlemen,

When I originally had Sky installed the engineer saw I had shadows on my tv screen. He then said "I know whats wrong!" and went to channel 99 on my TV and stored in a frequency that showed no shadows. Everytime I turn on my digi box the TV needed to be set to 99 which was fine except I was setting up my camcorder and accidentally reset it.

The shadows are driving me nuts, Please help.

Has your Digibox & TV got SCART cable?

    Do you know how:
    1) To tune a channel on your TV?

    and

    2) How to get to Digibox Installer menu?

    Give a bit more detail

Age, Size & model & brand of TV
What your TV channels are like
If you are on VHF,UHF, Cable or MMDS
How your Digibox plugs into TV

    Have you other TVs

How do you connect VHS (if you have one) and Camcorder

Buy two or three really FAT (FAT more important than Gold. Gold irellevent) SCART CABLES.

Conect SCART fromn VHS to VCR socket on Digibox
Connect a SCART from Digibox to TV
if there are two SCARTS on TV connect a SCART from VHS TV SCART if it has one, to TV also.

    Try changing Digibox channel on
    Services 4 0 1 Select
    (Hidden Install menu)

Default is 68 which often doesn't work well. Esp here where TG4 is *ON* 68!

    Tune tvs to Digibox.

Plug aerial cable into VHS. Loop VHS RF out to Digibox RF in

Feed TWO TVs from Digibox RF outs (Local TV can work from SCART), or get a 4-Way TV distributoer amp/splitter and use one Digibox RF out and feed up to 4 TVs, and a fifth from 2nd RF out.

Checkout www.satcure.co.uk for gadgets, advice, accessories and books relating to Satellite.

Try a 6dB or 12Db "inline barrel attenuator" in NTL cable . It can overload stuff. (both in cable gives 18dB reduction. Good TV / Service shop sells them, they just plug in aerial socket of VHS and then NTL cable plugs in.

Try a set top or attic UHF aerial into VHS with NTL disconnected.

bet you can tune a perfect picture on a TV from VHS or Digibox with the NTL unplugged and NTL box if any turned off!

The only time i see shadows is when i am watching sky through the VCR.. directly on the TV its fine... also when i record something from the VCR its fine... only if im looking at it through the VCR instead of the TV... and since i dont have any reason to do that, it does not bother me!

There is no need to connect the video directly to the TV as the digibox will pass through the video signal.

If you have two sockets on the TV and Video then you can keep them free for a DVD/PlayStation/Camcorder

    Generally that's true..

Now why did I suggest it then? Oh yes, I have pin 8 wire cut between Digibox and VHS.

    Scenario.

Watching Digibox on Local SCART TV.
Put tape in VHS for someone to watch in Kitchen or either of two bedroom TVs.

    I did have a 4-way Scart for a while. Now I have TV with 3 i/ps. (Digibox, S-VHS, DVD).
I can select security camera, Camcorder, or analog Sat via the three AV i/p on S-VHS recorder if no-one playing a tape. But that confuses everyone else.
