Just got Colin Mcrae rally 3 for the plystation2 today !!!

OMG, what a sweeeet game. The handling is excellent, graphics are excellent, Its gota be the best driving game I've ever played.

Dunno how addictive it is yet, wait and see I guess, but first impressions are brilliant. Most definatly the best driving game for the plystation2 so far.... and the replay's...

You have to be bull$hitting me here..right?
The handling: arcade and unreal (i could swear im playing Ridge Racer i have so much grip)

The graphics: my younger brother does better water paintings.

I have played both versions and the game is a complete sham.
It was rushed (especially the Xbox version) and is ultimately the biggest let down i have experienced this year..MGS2 was big but this is horrible.

There are only two game modes, championship (you have to be Mcrae) or stages (you can race unlocked cars on a single stage but not in a single rally).

The biggest joke is that the prizes you attain for finishing a rally are car parts to better your car setup but by default the car setup is the best for each rally anyway.

The damage/collision system is a nightmare.
You can be doing 100mph and an innocent looking shrub will bring you to a halt and destroy your car, the same happens if you hit a pebble on the side of the english road...a completely unmovable [sp?] little pebble that jolts you to an annoying stop.

Warning..stay well clear of this sham!

Codemasters are offically bastard$ as they did with this game what they did with TOCA.

The released **in game** screen shots of beautiful looking graphics which it turns out are only there during the replay mode.

During a replay the game looks fresh and exciting which really is in horrible contrast to the previous 4 minutes in making that replay.

Die you fuking creeps Codies...Micro Machines will be the third big screw up for these guys.

    /me: cherno cames down some.

    Goodnight.
    ;)

anyone know if they are doing a PC version!

I take the fact that it is not out yet for the PC to be a good thing as they might do a better version for the pc.

I dont like colin Mcrea 2 for the ps1, but i really love the pc vesion they are 2 completely different games!

well after buying Vrally for the player2  , CM3 is a big improvement to say the least. I dunno what kind of standards you got chernobyl, what is a good game for you? This game is pretty much the exact same as CM1 on the Player1 (car control), with much nicer graphics. I have no complants

    I rented it for Ps2 .
Replays and sound are nice thats it.
Graphics while driving are total crap,it does feel arcadey alright but fun none the less.
Ive seen Xbox version and its gfx are terrible too.
i feel all those screenies going about are from pc version .
Seriously gfx look like a ps1 game.
Ando sorry but i have to disagree totally with you.

??? i must be living on a different planet ???

The driver head camera is the best I've seen in any driving game, its the first game that I can drive the car properly from within the driving seat. The drivability is the same as Cmr1, but thats what made the game what it was, but now it has much better graphics ???

btw, i never play car games on the pc
Graphics while driving are total crap

what are you comparing this to? are there other ps games out there with better graphics?

Yes cockpit view is very well done i admit with nice water affects on windscreen but looking up the road ahead is a sad storyIMO.
Im comparing it to Vrally 3 ,WRC and rally events in GT3.:)

dude, vrally3? really, that game has nothing on cm3, the graphics maybe, but the drivability of that game is useless. I own that game to, but it was on my shelf 4 days after buying the game

You did ask what i was comparing it to in the gfx department ,hence my mention of V rally 3.
I agree that CM3 feels a lot better.

    eh chernobyl and dcully!

have u eyes, this game is only racer on the PS2 that could rival GT3 in terms of Graphix and playibilty.

The control system is a v strong point of this game,(and the whole CMR series) all i can think of is that u started and finished on easy. wait til u get to very hard. this is really slippy on Japan in the wet and Finland.

I've played Vrally3 and alto not a bad game this leaves tire tracks on it! the views and reflections on the car are top notch. name me something that even comes close.

The trees, rocks ,signposts and strawbales are ment to be avoided and they do damage your car (just like Real life! ). btw the damage system is awesome in this game every panel can be dented, bent then will drop off!

 Also the Superspecials where u go head 2 head (u get one for each country) are brilliant and are gr8 for racing against a m8!

In short, they really have brought the CMR series into the next generation and have produced the best rally game on the PS2........by far
    CMR3 is STILL Rally King!

    Its rushed garbage.../spit

obviously a Vrally fan -fair enuff .
Vrally3 is a good rally game but as anyone will tell you its always leaned toward being a bit too 'Arcadey' than Sim or realistic the way GT3 is. CMR has always had v v good handling control system.

You also seem to think that u can take every corner flat out. I think the handling is much much better than Vrally3 or WRC.

the question here is have u ever played GT3? and do u think its a good game? If u think Ridge racer 5 is a gr8 game this would explain a lot.

Its a good game for about 2 hours and then you realise how $hit the AI and in order to complete the game you have to spend another 60hours just circuling the same tracks and being 5+ seconds a lap quicker than anyone else.

..and fuk me, what idiot thought the idea of including the test track in any championship would be cool....15 laps of hell..just cruising in my boredom.

GT3 is good but not great and as i also play games on PC i can say its a great distance from simulation..a comprehensive arcade game it think.

The original VRally on the playstation was fantastic, but VR3 is absolutely horrible, i tolerated its weird handling for 15 minutes.

    CMR3...uhh

GT3 is a bit like CIV3 u can easily get 100hrs+ (if not months out of it and still come back to it.)

GT3 is a AAA title and one that any racing game would aspire to be as good.
I think the only other baseline there is the Geoff Crommond Grand Prix series on the PC -> GT3 also reaches this lvl of realism.

Yes the Test track -pure torture to race 10/15 laps with a Yaris. and we know bout the AI >needs overhaul. If your 5+secs a lap in every race you also must be using an F1 or the 787b and racing against production racers?

I'm very curious, what do think is a gr8 racer on any format?, or do u just dont like racing games

eh realism, i think Grand Prix Legends is vaguely realistic .. yes that is definately my benchmark.

    PC: Grand Prix Legends/F1 2001/Grand Prix 3/GP 500
    PS2: WRC/GT3 [i like making $hit hot replays]
    Xbox: PGR/RalliSport

When a rally game comes out thats close to the greatness that was Championship Rally 2000 on the PC then I might buy it.
    I live in anticipation...

    fuk..i forgot that game.
When that first came out you needed a real monster to get it looking special.

I tried the multiplayer one night [tcp/ip] but it was a bit screwed.

The rally champ. games released after that were pure crap tbh.
I was kinda hoping WRC on the PS2 would be made for the PC but then I heard it wasn't a great game either.

Maybe WRC 2 will make it...

Without trying to slam consoles and with respect,GT3 or any other console racers are not sims plain and simple.
Sega Gt 2002 on Xbox is closer to a sim than GT3.

No console racer compares to GPL [no not out of box GPL but updated gfx, cars and tracks],Nascar 2002,F1 2002.

Dont get me wrong i love my Xbox and am primarily a games fan no matter what system its on.
This PS2 sucks, xbox rox, cube whatever? thing is just pathetic.

A strong PC and wheel setup is the only way to go for racing sims.
Anyone who suggests otherwise havent played a PC sim.

When EA released F1 2002 on all formats they employed ISI for the PC version as they and all software companies know that PC racers more often than not want a sim, where as the console versions are arcade which they see the console gamer wants.
I just wish they would cater for us who want a sim on a console too.
BTW CMR 3 is good fun and looks sweet on Xbox ,i do enjoy the odd arcade racer now and then.Rally championship on PC is still the best rally sim with Rally trophy and rally masters close behind IMO.
