I have posted many topics to this forum,
some have been 'edited' for reasons that i
fully understand and accept, and some have
not. when im wrong i know im wrong and
accept it fully.......

but i would love to know why my reponse to
Clouds' post on red bull was edited
COMPLETELY!!!; where i said the following:

that was my post. its aim was to provoke
laughter, joviality, enjoyment and make
people smile.


(as is the intention of all my posts)

i do take things seriously (some of the
time , and while i think sarcasm should
have its limits, i dont think those limits
should be the extent to which admins feel
its valued or even tasteful and/or not....


there are many people in this world, and
while we cannot accomodate the tastes of
everyone (be whatever they may) i think a
little "live and let live" should be the
approach taken, ESPECIALLY, where the
intention of the postee is OBVIOUSLY jovial
and humourous.

Now, if i offended anyone, Cloud or anyone
else, then would those people please accept
my humblest apologies -- without exception
Offensiveness is ONE thing i will apologise for,

but....

I won't apologise for trying to make people
laugh and smile and have an all round
better day,

Is my intention when writing various
posts / prose / poems..

Dev, im not trying to rile u, nor am i

shocked and a tad surprised that such a
fairly mundane post was edited (completely edited at that)

If anyone still believes me to be in the

All due respect Wyverne, but i dont see what you're complaining about... It's a pretty obscene post and with these boards supposed to be going official and all that and respectable (not too sure about this point ) i think maybe you have no reason to complain about that post being edited.

I personally think that some of your stuff is funny but a lot of it is unnessecary and im sorry to say ive taken to not even reading a lot of your posts (there are waaaay too many of them).

I know you post a lot of amusing and interesting stuff but some of your stuff comes close to the bones and some of it amputates limbs.

Sorry if you think I was harsh but I found I had to censor a record number of rather revolting messages from M1rv, koopa and others and by the time I read yours I wasnt in a laughing mood.

This is a public website now and what might be accepted in the sand pit of the Quake board might not be accepted in the Afterhours section. Its a thin line we walk between censorship and anarchistic muppertry... try not to make it harder for us

Tuck in your shirt baiyo' the (IGN) Boards have gone all respectable on us.
Just have a look back at some of the posts of 1999, and see what filth and extreme muppetry was permitted.

Fair enough, edit all the racist jokes and deeply offensive remarks by all means.
But I hardly think that one reference to a Bl0wJ*b counts as offensive to most. Doesn't offend me anyway, and it obviously doesn't offend Wyverne.

If these boards are going all commercial, then fair enough, but don't alienate the people who post.
After all without us, this site would be just another empty UBB.

I'd like to see a more clear set of posting rules and guidelines, so that we can tone down our posts to an acceptable level of filth, instead of just having them wiped.

We try to implement a 50-50 rule... basically that means if we think more then 50% of the community would want it zapped, we zap it. Already there have been people saying they thought Wyverne's post was a little close to the bone. I dunno, if I was honest I'd have to say that I was annoyed too which probably pushed me closer to zapping it.

Whats tolerated in Quake wont be tolerated in Afterhours tho...

We built this for everyone (group hug!) and I dont want to alienate anyone but remember that for every person who gets up on a soapbox about their "freedom to say BLOWJ0B" there are 10 who simply dont return to the site.

Its a tough position we are in, all I ask is that everyone remember that and make our lives as easy as possible..

In order for this project to succeed and grow we need sponsors/advertisers. No matter what we personally think we have to take into account what they think when they read things like 'f...skin cheese' 'bulls semen' etc. We are also trying to attract new folk to the site to share their thoughts and insights with us all. It might be a little intimidating for them to join if they feel they will have to run some sort of gauntlet as a 'newbie' or suffer 'posting abuse' and by that I mean rude and vulgar language posted in response to new threads that they might start. I don't mean to be restrictive but a little consideration for other people and their feelings would be nice.

By the way, I am one of the few women who posts to the Boards and as you correctly spotted Hobbes the Marketing Director of Spin Solutions/Boards.

i hate to say this, but i agree with de vore.
the boards do have potential, and we should atemp to fulfill that potential. which means we gotta tighten up.
it will lead to better discussions in the end, and if you can't swear and make crude bull se.men references we might have to think of better insults.
they are still keeping the quake boards as a den of filth too, (aren't you?) so if you feel like discussing crap you can go there.

I haven't been to boards much, Having run the Gauntlet of IRC for many a year, & I stopped, because you do run the risk of finding someting not so funny and that is usually dependent on the kind of day, week month, etc,, that you are having, and somethings that would be said in reponse during a verbal conversation can go on unnoticed, but will always be there in the Boards..... forever there to haunt you.......

But in defense of you, I have found most of your reponse extremely interesting....
