Online gamer insures fingers for £375,000
    27/10/2002 - 12:50:15 pm

A computer game player has insured his hands for £375,000.

Alex Nikitin from London is due to take part in the World Cyber Games in Korea this week.

He says missing a game due to injury could result in him losing his place in the tournament, as well as valuable earnings.

"Qualifying for the World Cyber Games has led me to investigate ways to protect my key assets - my fingers," Mr Nikitin said.

Seems kinda stupid, but if he's worried about losing 'valuable' earnings, why is he spending £375,000 on his hands? kinda ironic if ye ask me, but if he has the money and skill, i wont call him stupid :)

    Blah.

Insuring something for £375,000 doesn't mean you PAY that much. That's how much the insurance company pays you if something happens them. You pay a premium which is much much much much much lower than that.

And i think it's a damn good idea. Everyone should be insuring things important to them, and if you make a lot of money using your fingers, you should insure them.

Not a new thing really though, but I can see where he's coming from.

"Actresses" have been known to insure their boobs or legs (if it's their trade mark), and athletes are no different from gamers in this respect.

Did anyone else see Fatality pimping his skillz on Ebay? "Buy a training day with me!"
