So what did ppl think of the top 100 thrillers on channel 4 last nite?

I was quite pleased to see that the majority were old films therefore excluding a lot of those **** modern films which always seem to dominate this countdowns.

No 1 film was Psycho-which is one of my fav films ever and even though i have seen it many a time it still scares me(well the end does where he has that smile that is so creepy)

It was ok although there was no need for Harrison Ford to present!

That's probably because it was voted for by people who know a little about good cinema and was compiled without the input of the phethora of cretins out there who populate our society. People who couldn't remember any film unless (a) it contained a deluge of sex&violence and/or crude humour and (b) it had been showed at their local suburban multiplex in the past 12 months.

I take it then that you're in at least your mid-fifties? Otherwise you're not really qualified to say that. Even if so then I'd still say you're talking out of your plughole.

Apparently so. It was voted for by the American Film Institute and the nomination list of 400 were supposedly all american (according to Harrison Ford at least). But considering the final 100 featured Clockwork Orange, Lawrence of Arabia. Bridge on the River Kwai and Goldfinger amongst others it'd make you wonder. Perhaps they meant 'made with American money'?

So no The Third Man or The Thirtynine Steps, no Odd Man Out
or Get Carter I could go on... ;) No great french thrillers by Claude
Chabrol or German pix by Fritz Lang. Not much of a list then!

The Third Man was in it. Maybe they only included films that could be presented as American? Or something?

The Long Good Friday wasn't in it either more's the shame.

Every one of these top 100 lists can have holes poked in them for not including your favourite. At this stage I ignore them. They're a bit of a waste of time.
